hey guys,

I know this is a long shot, but I'm restoring an old property and am searching for old reclaimed oak flooring.  If any of you happen to either have some or work in the industry, please shoot me a private message.  Thanks.

Old oak flooring is beautiful.

Hope you can find what you are seeking.

Actually, not matching the floor.  There is too little of the current floor to make it worth it so replacing all of it.

Would consider all the floors mentioned, not really being picky, just looking for a good deal.

Most of the old oak I've run into was about 3/4" thick and 2 1/4 to 2 1/2" wide.  You can still buy that, but it's not going to have now where near the rich grain and color tones the old stuff has but you can play with the stains and make it close to a match in color but not much you can do about the grain.  If it's not out where it would be a very noticeable eyesore to patch it in, usually you can make new stuff work.   Since you are doing the whole floor, I think you should be able to find what you want, except for the good deal.  It's been a while since I've messed with any but the last time I checked, it was running almost $3 a square foot to buy it, and about twice that to have it installed and finished, and that was a few years ago.

Thanks Way2Slow,

I found 3/4" x 5" unfinished planks for a hell of a price.  Should have samples tomorrow.  I have friends that can install and a master floor finisher that can make it look really old.

Here's a pattern that might interest you.  The first  was done with pre finished wood.  The wood in the bottom image was not.  It was the type of flooring that requires sanding and finishing after installation.

That does look good.  I'll show this to the installers.  Still waiting on samples.  Hope to have them tomorrow according to UPS.
