salad spoon vs toads

I have been a big fan of toads, however, it seems you have to reel too fast in order to keep them on top.  Today I tried some Lunker City Salad Spoons and I have to say they cause nice action at a slow crawl and stay on top at slow speeds.  They sink very slowly when stopped, and slowly undulating down. I haven't gotten to really  gotten to fish with them yet just cast them a few times at the ramp.  They seem really cool for something I bought on a whim.  I think they may mostly replace my toads.  Anybody else have experience with them?

I’ve tried other spoons and only done ok. 

 

Ragetail toads catch a lot of fish on the sink too.

Years ago, I fished a Heddon Moss Boss. You've probably seen these. A large plastic skirted spoon, designed to fish over pads, moss etc. I did pretty well with them. Their still available, even though I haven't used one for a while

The salad spoon is plastic, sort of tadpole shaped.  Put an EWG hook in it.

I'd never heard of it, but looks like it should be very effective in heavy surface grass and pads.  I think it was dumb of them to put 'spoon' in the name, however.  I have surface gunk spoons, and they are nothing like this....more like Johnson Silver Minnow style.

Pretty good baits.  I prefer the RageTail Shad over them.

I think the name is perfect "salad spoon" discribes what it is. 

Lunker City has some awesome soft plastics that get knocked off over the years, innovative company.
