Jig vs Jer bait

This is a Ford VS Samsung question.  Different uses at different times.  Sometimes use a JB to make a fish show itself then throw a jig at it.

A jig covers a lot of different baits. A 1/16 oz ball head jig, 1 oz skirted jig, bladed jigs, shakey heads, Ned Rigs, or the jig on a swim bait to name a few. Jerk baits can be hard baits that float or suspend. Or they can be soft plastic Senkos, or flukes. Which baits are you referring to?

Soft plastic jerk bait for me. OP didn’t specify what kind of jerk bait?

Odd comparison as said. Jig is MUCH more versatile.

Jerkbait bite is a shorter window for me, but when they're eating it nothing else comes close. I fish a jig more just because I fish them all year round.

I'd say jerk bait in cold water. Jig any other time.

Jerk bait over a jig in cold water.....hmmmmmm? Small profile lure worked slowly in front of bass that replicates a crawdad.......isn't a jerk bait!

Jerkbaits and jigs both work great in cold water. 

 

IMO they both work great year round. I always see people talk about only certain times for jerkbaits... But I catch with them in the middle of summer, and throughout the whole season. Fall always seems great for them as well. 

 

Jigs are where it's at. Versatile hog catchers. 

 

Pick one or the other is tough... Im going to edge it for the jig though
