Why Florida? 

 

There aint no bass here. I assure you the stories for double digit bass are greatly exaggerated. Fake new and photoshop.

 

Plus, we have winter here. We have had our cold, rainy, and/or cloudy days. 

 

If you want fish, sun, and warmth, Florida isn't the place.

 The big problem around here before too long will be wind.  This weekend we have a front moving through with winds expected to be in mid teens, and gusts up to 30 mph.

I was supposed to fish a charity tournament on Sunday but it got postponed because the forecast now is a high temperature in the 30's, winds 20+ mph and 1 to 3 inches of snow.

 

That would have been a little chilly.

I feel you, Today finally hit 56 and it's been 40 or below most of the time. Some of our lakes haven't even completely thawed and it's the middle of April!

 

Catching bass around here on the shore is like catching unicorns!

I'm not far behind you guys.   Weather in my area has been so inconsistent it's frustrating.  Two days in the mid sixties and a week of upper 40's with lows to freezing, winds over 25 MPH and rain and sometimes sleet.  I fished yesterday in spite of atrocious weather and my buddy caught two and I managed the lone two pound buck. The water is roiled and dropped seven degrees in 48 hours. It was still better than watching Diners Drive-Inns and Dives !

First is late afternoon yesterday (snowing with 50-60 mph wind) and the second is this morning.  Now the sun is out, but it's still only 38°.  Had to take the second photo from the garage as I couldn't open either the front or back doors because of drifts on both porches.

We got all of you beat today in Minnesota.  A blizzard warning is in effect, 50 mph winds, 9-15 inches of snow, white out conditions, and all flights have been grounded at MSP.  Its a historic April storm.  Last year at this time, it was 65 degrees and sunny.  Unreal

Tell me about it, every year in April I spend a few weeks in Florida...and the one year I don't go, the Spring weather is just brutal in Michigan. But the good news is, it can't get any worse until next December....or can it : )

This has been a very long,hard winter for many Northern states and the Southwest states hasn't had it easy either with several years of long droughts,having to paint the grass green since its all nasty brown from not enough rain, and other unfavorable living conditions. Makes me appreciate where I live in South Florida, the fishing capital of the world!

The wind has been constant here for the past few weeks. I went out bank fishing yesterday and it was a constant 18-25 mph. The wind seemed to be coming from all directions and the particular lagoon I was fishing is out in the open.

 

Managed to coax the gator away by throwing topwaters elsewhere, then went back and caught a couple of 3 pounders. Packed it in within in hour. We rode our bikes to the lagoon and the wind was blowing so much we had to pedal twice as hard to get anywhere. It even blew my son off of his bike.

 

I've about had enough of the wind.

I am starting to get concerned about our Annual trip to St Clair this year.  May 22nd probably will still be pretty cold water temps.  Break out the deep diving jerkbaits!!
