Super User gim Posted April 10, 2018 Super User Posted April 10, 2018 Not a big fan of the current NHL playoff format. I know its been like that for years and for years it worked against the Penguins & Capitals in round 2. This year its working against the Atlantic division. They need to go back to the straight up 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc and the highest remaining seed hosting the lowest remaining seed after every round. Who's your horse on the ice this spring? Las Vegas has the best odds for Nashville, Vegas, Tampa, and Boston. Quote
Way north bass guy Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 I want to go with my Leafs this year, and if all the stars aligned they might go fairly deep but there’s a lot of teams that could do well this year. It’s gonna be an interesting couple of months for sure this year. 1 Quote
Chowderhead Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Bruins -- Its always the Bruins for me. With that said, I really have no idea. It has been far too long since I have really followed the NHL. Too many changes -- I don't even recognize a 1/3 of the league leaders. http://www.nhl.com/stats/leaders 1 Quote
OCdockskipper Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Go Ducks!! They survived the beginning of the season when injuries & surgery's nearly sunk them, got everyone back for the last 1/3 of the season and went 10-1-1 down the stretch to slip into 2nd in the Pacific. They are a great combination of playoff experience and youthful energy and their style of play fits the playoffs. Heck, the Kings tanked their last game against Dallas just to avoid having to play the Ducks in the first round Quote

RichF Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Since my Blueshirts are terrible and traded half their team...I'll go Tampa. I'd even be happy to see the Jackets take it all. Wouldn't mind the Preds or Vegas out west. Quote
Adam.love05 Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I've been a bruins fan since I was a kid.. I didn't have a lot of expectations going into this year but they have proven themselves over and over.. I still think they're a touch young/inexperienced to win the cup but they definitely have the drive to make it interesting!! Just as long as the penguins don't win, I'll be happy.. 2 Quote

It's a great show of how Bruce Cassidy and the scouting team have really figured things out.. he is a great coach and the Young guns are really great players that have bought into the system and are having fun.. it's been great to see, the next few years are going to be a great time if your a bruins fan!! 1 Quote
Buffdaddy54 Posted April 21, 2018 Posted April 21, 2018 CAPS fan here, gotta say tho, they were lucky to get the win, they were not the better team today. Quote
Super User gim Posted April 25, 2018 Author Super User Posted April 25, 2018 Here we are again: Penguins vs Capitals! Is THIS the year or will the Pens add to their 9-1 playoff series record against the Capitals again? Quote

Too much negative history to get by. Until they get rid of anyone associated with the losing history I'm afraid it will continue. I hope I'm wrong but don't think so. On another note,if the Pens go on to win another cup to make it 4 and 3 in a row I don't see how you cannot call Sid the GOAT As much as I don't like the guy he makes everyone around him better unlike Ovie. J.Vincent Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 I'm cheering for Washington; but I'd be surprised if Vegas doesn't win the Cup. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted April 25, 2018 Super User Posted April 25, 2018 B’s fan forever but they’ve dropped their last three against Toronto and are down 0-1 less than 3 minutes in game 7. I’m praying heavily for them tonight.... Was sketchy most of the game but the B’s squeeked one out... off to round 2. Quote

Buffdaddy54 Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 CAPS actually looked like a contender today. Though I will say the Pens got robbed on that no goal call. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 4, 2018 Global Moderator Posted May 4, 2018 Don’t know much about hockey but it sounds like Nashville came up big last night to avoid going down 3-1 to Winnipeg. A lot of us Tennesseans, mostly clueless about the sport, are cheering for the predators since they are the only pro hockey team anywhere close. Quote
Super User gim Posted May 7, 2018 Author Super User Posted May 7, 2018 Looks like Tampa is the first team to punch their ticket to the 3rd round and Vegas can join them later tonight. I can't imagine the ratings will be great if its Vegas vs Tampa in the finals. The "desert" vs the "swamp" of pro hockey. Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted May 11, 2018 Global Moderator Posted May 11, 2018 Well I tried to watch the predators game 7. I still don't understand this game at all but it seems Nashville has a Jekyll/Hyde goalie Quote
Buffdaddy54 Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 WOWjustWOW!! Is it me or do the CAPS look legit?? 2 dominating performances on the road! Could this be the year?? Quote
mattkenzer Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Got a couple good teams from the West to deal with. Quote
Super User gim Posted May 25, 2018 Author Super User Posted May 25, 2018 So who do ya'll got now? The cinderella Golden Knights or the finally-made-it-there Capitals? Vegas is a slight favorite probably because they are the home team and have lost less games this post season. Based on how the Capitals have been playing though, I think they will take it. They look like a team on a mission now. Quote

Im so glad they got the Pens monkey off their back. but here is the thing, Pens used to have Marc Andre Fluery as their goaltender, now he is the Vegas goaltender. He has a history of shutting down the Caps in the playoffs. In fact the Pens benched their goaltender last season in the playoffs just to play Fluery vs the Caps. After years of heartbreak for me from the Caps playoff disappointments i am glad to see them break through. Im hoping for a Cup win, but I wont predict one thats for sure Quote
