Anybody got one of these rods, and an opinion on it?

Looking to see what people think of them. They're on sale for 99$ right now, thinking of picking up the 7'1" spinnerbait rod for chatterbaits.

I have a few Cabelas rods and they are good quality for the money, I can imagine the XML would be the same.  Never used one but they felt very nice at the store the winn grips were a different feel.

I can tell you it would be hard to beat their lifetime warranty.  Almost all the feedback I've read about it are pretty much no questions asked, within reason.

Cabela's farms their rod building out to some major manufacturer, they do not make their own.  So.....the big question is who makes their rods?  If you can find that out, you will get a good idea on quality.  Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to fish any of their store brand rods.

I own two of their previous XML models and if the new models are anything like the old they will be great rods. I also own one of their Fish Eagle models and it's a very nice rod also.  I don't see how you can go wrong.

I have some Cabela's Pro Guide spinning rods (discontinued) and have been very impressed. They were around forty bucks but fish much above that.

Very high quality rods with great actions. I love the 6’7” top water xml bass casting rod. It’s also an excellent jerkbait and shaky head rod too. On sale right now for $99!!!

Is it worth an extra $20 over a tournament zx when they were on sale for $80? I have a zx, and got another $25 gift cards, wondering if it’s worth it!

I would say so. I think they are great rods and a fantastic deal at $99.00

Gotcha. Which one would be the most comparable to the zx jig and worm? I see they only have one in an extra fast action, but prefer 7-1 to 7-3 maybe

Not great bang for the buck, excellent bang for the buck. I have their no longer made mag touch rod and I just love this rod. When Cabelas rods go on sale it’s an even better deal. Although I don’t have an xml, I presume they’ll follow suit.

Last one I owned felt very heavy, but that was several years ago so I'm sure they have changed since then. They were nice for a house brand rod though.

Bought one. 7'1 medium heavy

Weighed it against my 7' mh ethos micro

Ethos micro-3.5 oz

Xml is around 4.4 oz.

Nice rod but it may go back. Not sure yet.

Great action though

Nothing wrong with XML.  The spinning rod that spends the most time in my hand is built on an XML blank.  It's not the lightest most sensitive blank in the world, but it fishes way better than I ever expected.

I have one 7 foot medium XML casting rod from 3 years ago and I think it's a great rod. Love the full cork handle and good sensitivity. Use it to throw weightless plastics mainly.

Anyone ever use the 7'6 spinning rod?  I have a 7'6 Diawa Cronos and love it for hair jigs and neko, curious if this would compare to get a 2nd rod for better price

Wow. That’s nearly an ounce difference! However, for me, microguides are a show stopper.

You've got to realize that 3.5 oz. is very light for a factory rod.  Nor is it all about weight.  Just ask Dobyns fans.  :teeth:  Dobyns 735C weighs 5.7 oz. per TT review.

The reel used has significantly more affect on the overall weight of a combo.  You could mount a reel weighing around 4.5 oz. or one weighing almost  10 oz. (some older reels like 9.8 oz. Curado).

I have one and enjoy it as my kayak rod. No issues here.

I have the 7’ M spinning rod. I spoke with the guy at the store before purchasing the rod, sounds like they use Loomis blanks to make the rods. They have great action and feel, I highly recommend it
