Heavy action rod for under 100$

Looking to toss some jigs in the 1 to 1.5 ounce range and looking for a good stick to use. Currently have an 8 ft mojo bass swimbait rod rated to 4 ounces and a wright McGill Clunn 8 ft s glass stick rated to 1.5 ounce lures. 

 

Used the mojo last year briefly and it worked, but want to use it for swimbaits. Was going to try the Clunn rod and see how it goes, but not sure it is ideal. 

 

The two sticks I saw in a catalog were a cabelas fish eagle 7’ H Fast action 3/8-2 1/4 ounce for 70 and a cabelas tourney trail with the same specs for 50. 

 

Any my thoughts on those choices, other ideas? Would also be happy if you told me what I had is good, heavy jigs is not an everyday tactic for me.

Haven’t owned those rods but I own multiple cabelas rods and they are all good rods with a great warranty. But if your willing to go to 100-110 dollars there’s better ones. I have a st. Croix Bass X which I love and am picking up a Dobyn Fury tomorrow which I’ve heard nothing but great things about. If you want one of the cabelas rods they are solid rods for the money.

I really like the H/F Ethos rods I have from Academy. I have a 7' H/F and a couple 7' 3" H/F that all see a lot of use. 

Daiwa offers the AIRD-X in a 7' H/F. It has good reviews and I've heard nothing but good things about it, and they're only $50.

I've owned quite a few $100 price point rods and the Irod Fiber has been the best for me, it's not even close really. The 7'5" heavy is rated up to 2 oz

I highly recommend spending the extra 25$ to get the fury over the colt if possible. The fury has way more sensitivity imo. I tried a friends colt and fury to see which one I wanted and for 25 bucks I think the fury is a lot better

Thank you all for the ideas, and I am compiling a list for my second flipping stick. With your info in hand I went to my local cabelas which didn’t have a great selection, but I found a deal. They had the cabelas fish eagle 2 piece with a previous sale tag on it for 55 and with my 10 bucks off coupon walked out under 50 with tax. The 2 piece doesn’t bother me as much after using high end fly rods that are 3 and 4 piece sticks. 

 

Follow up question other than big jigs, what can I use this rod for. 

 

Would think it might double as a good light swimbait rod too.

In the 100 dollar range I believe the cabelas tournament zx rods and bass pro carbonlites can't be beat! Cabelas is all I own,  no questions asked lifetime warranty.  If i break one I ride 20 minutes to cabelas and get a new one! Good luck

I'm a big fan of the daiwa fuego series of rods. I have the 8ft heavy. Its a good stick for 55 bucks online at walmart

I wonder who makes their rods for them now? My cabelas prodigy sticks that I really like were made for them by Daiwa.
