Hello my name is Sam and I am a new member of the forum. I’ve just recently took up bass fishing out here in Arizona, however I will soon be moving up north for college. Fishing gear can be wuite expensive, so its hard for me to afford quality gear, specifically rods/reels. I currently only have one setup, so if anyone has any setups used or new I would be willing to buy them, along with any advice anyone has. Thank you

Welcome aboard, Sam!

Having only one setup, especially as a college student

tight on cash, is not a big deal, really. Multiple setups

can be more of a luxury for the budget conscious.

Why don't you tell us what you have now and we may

offer ideas on how you can maximize its usage.

In the meantime, our Fleamarket often has deals that

won't break a college student's bank :) .

I just got a Abu Garcia Pro Max combo to start partly because I love how Abu looks aesthectically but also after some research it seemed like a good starter.

Also is the flea market active these days, after seeing the dates with posts on that forum I'm not sure if that's when they were made or when the last reply was.  Anyone know if there are some active strings on the flea market.

Make sure the  lures you have fall  within the rods rating . If   fishing from bank many people including I , prefer to take one rod .

The moderators try to keep track of all that is sold, and

will delete sold threads. Meaning what's still there is

likely still available. You just have to reply to the thread

starter and see what's up.

I'm assuming you bought the spinning combo?

It has a M (medium) power rod, which is kind of the avg

for bass fishing, i.e., it covers a wide swath of techniques.

You can use it for wacky rig, ned rig, Texas rig, cranks,

spinnerbaits, and so forth. But like @scaleface said, you

want to make sure the lure rating is within the rating on

the rod. Usually that info is just above the handle.

Baitcaster. I have a spinning rod as well however I wanted to get into baitcasting because its more versatile. I know there is a learning curve( and I already got a birdnest just putting line on it?). Mine is a left hand retrieve(how I learned) on a 7’ medium heavy, because I heard these were good all around, starter rods. I am curious what anyone would recommend to use for crabkbaits as far as rod/reel. My promax is listed at 3/8-3/4 oz for lures, so some crankbaits fallout of that area. I currently have 17lb mono to learn the ropes, braid is ??? thanks for all the replies
