I need some recommendations on a good buzz bait. Needs to cast good and have durability.

A ton of people on here recommend a cavitron! I had one gifted to me and it’s by far my favorite, although all I have to compare to are cheapie ones. Cavitron is the way to go, and I’d venture to say that many will agree

I would suggest buying a few different ones to see which brand you like for your particular circumstances.

Personally I don't like the Cavitron but a lot of guys love them.

Booyah is my favorite right now (with the clacker cut off).

Buzzbaits are one of those where I've only tried a few, and didn't like any as much as I did the cavitrons, and until I find a reason to switch, I won't be trying new ones.

I like the Cavitron and Crock O Gator. A 3/4oz Crock O Gator is the best casting buzzbait I've ever fished but it has a huge blade so it pops up to the surface and stays there very easily.

I've seen you recommend this buzzbait a few times, what gear are you throwing it on? 3/4 ounce is a pretty large buzzbait

I use a 6' 10" MH/F with a 200B Curado and 17lb Pline CXX. It doesn't feel that heavy once it's tied one, but it's a very compact bait with a minimal skirt so it cast very well.

If a have to buy them at the store I'd go with Cavitron or Crock o gator as well..  The best way to get them to cast well is to replace the skirt with a toad or add one with the skirt.

They will bite it just the same and it makes things much easier when the wind is blowing. I think the bait planes better with a toad also.

Cavitrons are good baits but have a pretty light wire , so are not the most durable .I would  buy the three pack from Luck E Strike   that   Wal Mart carries .

I've tried pretty much every buzzbait out there, including the one with the halo and the heavenly light beam shinning down on it that everyone loves here, and I keep going back to the Strike King. I make a few mods on them, and they catch fish and hold up well.

for durability definitely Booyah, and keep the clacker b/c it calls and annoys big girls.  the wire is so strong you can catch hundreds of bass on it so buy a cheap hook sharpener.  it takes a 4lb + girl to bend it.

i always start with 1/2 oz and downsize to 3/8 oz if they aren't biting it. it runs even slower if you drill some holes in the blade.

if you're ever reeling in a random lure and notice it's leaving bubbles on the water surface immediately break out a buzzbait. i forget which pro said it but it's an amazing tip. first time i noticed the bubbles i broke out a buzzbait and literally caught a bass on the first cast.

I've never tried a cavitron. From what I've read they would be a good choice. Buzzbaits have been hit or miss for me. I've bought many in 30 yrs. Some catch fish well and others haven't.  The best of the bunch for me has been an older black Lunker Lure twin blade I bought years ago. Something about that buzzer gets bit more than others. Try a few different ones. Sometimes some of the cheaper models can work well too. Good luck
