Super User Log Catcher Posted April 3, 2018 Super User Posted April 3, 2018 I have an older model Bass Tracker 175. I need some advice on any good ways to clean the carpet in my boat. I appreciate any help anyone can give me. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 3, 2018 Super User Posted April 3, 2018 Get a bottle of 'Simple Green' - follow the instructions. That stuff will literally clean anything, marine carpet should be a snap for it. 2 Quote

You spray it on, it foams, you scrub it with a sponge or brush, then vacuum. Tight lines, Bob Quote
Joseph B. Posted April 5, 2018 Posted April 5, 2018 Ditto what Fisher said. Simple Green and a scrub brush works great. Takes out most anything including grease and is nontoxic and biodegradable. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Resolve "high traffic" cleaner works for me along with shout or oxi clean. Quote
PECo Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 I actually had Stanley Steemer clean my boat’s carpet in my driveway before I sold the boat. The guy to whom I sold it told me he’s afraid to let me see the carpet, because it’s filthy, now. Quote
Super User MickD Posted April 6, 2018 Super User Posted April 6, 2018 I used a power washer for years on my boat, worked well. I suggest the simple green procedure recommended above, then do the power wash, no need to vac. Be sure to be careful with the power wash, you want to be a little aggressive, but don't want to damage the carpet. Have the front of the boat high and the plug open. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 10, 2018 Super User Posted April 10, 2018 I suggest using a wet or dry shop vacuum cleaner. It will leave you with a nearly dry carpet. I use it on the carpet when I've had the boat out in the rain. Six years of fishing, and I haven't used any type of cleaner. Quote

I bought it in 2000. No amount of cleaning will ever get my boat to look that good. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted April 10, 2018 Super User Posted April 10, 2018 The worst mess was when I was at Guntersville. Got some of that southern red clay on my sneakers and I transferred it to the carpet. It took three or four rainstorms to get it out of the carpet. Quote

Probably my worst spot is where the combos I am using lay on the deck and over a period of time oil has seeped out of the reels and stained the carpet. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted April 22, 2022 Super User Posted April 22, 2022 Just don't use a high pressure washer, it will leave lines in it where it packs it down so hard, it won't come back up. Been there, done that several times. Even thinking I will hold it far enough off to prevent it, it either doesn't clean it, or still leaves those funky looking lines in it. Mine is a 4gpm 3600psi pressure washer and it will wreck carpet. It will clean the crap out of it, but you are not going to be pleased with the way your carpet looks when done. Going back over it with a heave scrub brush will help, but it won't fix it. Quote
cyclops2 Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 I would NEVER consider a power washer. I have always had or later installed SECTIONS of PILE ONLY carpeting. Small enough to fit in a big commercial washing machine. NO CHEAP tightly looped carpeting !!!!!! Hooks LOVE that stuff. The soft non looped stuff also cleans much easier. Stains come out easier.
