Catfish and Suckers

I just discovered that my local pond had some small yellow bullhead and suckers, but I don't know how to catch them. I'm guessing that you just cast a worm under a bobber, and play the waiting game. But I'm not sure which size hook to use, and if I should use any weights. If you have any setups or baits you can recommend me it would be helpful. Thanks!

The suckers will eat a piece of worm fished on or near the bottom. Use a small hook such as a size 8 or size 4. Suckers make good bait for muskies, northern pike, smallies, and many other fish.

Piece of nightcrawler and a small slip sinker rig will catch both of them. The bullheads have big mouths for their bodies, so hook size is going to be dictated by the size of the suckers you're dealing with. I'd guess probably a #6 or #8 would do the trick.

I prefer a slip sinker rig to a bobber when bottom fishing.  Any kind of simple live bait works, but nightcrawler and leaches are as good a start as any.  This is also a pretty good time to use circle hooks.  A gut hooked sucker is going to be a pain in the ass.
