Super User J Francho Posted April 26, 2018 Super User Posted April 26, 2018 Putting your confidence in one lure seems pretty weak to me. Confidence, can mean many things, and I am on record stating how overrated I think it is. 1 Quote

Of all things, drop shot! A lot of folks say that drop shot is a novice technique for small fish. While most would be correct, they are also incorrect. Novice or pro, drop shot can be killer. When the bite is tough, I always have a drop shot rigged ready to go. I just picked up some Keitech Easy Shiners. How do you rig them? Quote

One of my confidence lures, so, I when I use both the Easy Shiners and, more lately, the Shad Impact, I use a 3/0 60 degree bend jig hook to which I add an Owner CPS (medium size). I screw the nose of these two plastics onto the CPS, then Texas Rig it from there leaving the hook hidden in the slit up on the dorsal side of these shads, slightly skin-hooked. I throw mine weightless, want the look of an injured or dying shad. ***One thing: Try fishing these "finesse" and less so on an over-active retrieval, almost like a T-Rigged worm, even dragging it across the bottom. Oh! My other big confidence bait? A small Roboworm (Morning Dawn or Aaron's Magic, etc.), on a Roboworm Gamakatsu Rebarb hook, Texas Rigged. A Senko would be a third, wacky or T-Rigged. Look at all of the responses and one can quickly see why Gary Yamamoto can charge a premium price for these. Brad 1 Quote

Thank you sir for calling me weak, I can't help I'm 15 years old and may not be "mentally" strong or however you want to put it. I have confidence in every lure. That's the only way to catch fish is to believe. If you don't have confidence in anything your not gonna try to use it for very long, it's that way with anything. I'm trying to say when nothing else works what do you know is gonna catch them. I asked a simple question on this site about what's your confidence lure, not for how weak I am for liking to throw something more than others. Also thanks for calling me overrated, I like the encouragement. Quote
Peter Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Either a jerkbait or t-rig senko in watermelon red. 1 Quote

It's a public forum and people will, and do say whatever crosses their mind (like I'm doing now) Just let it roll off you like water off a ducks back. When you get a $50,000 bass boat, $5,000 in electronics and 20+ years learning about the sport like some people have you will have confidence in stuff besides lures, but until then just roll with what you know. 1 Quote

They make swimbait jig heads that you can use such as the Dirty Jigs. Hook up is great but they're not very weedless. If you're looking for a more weedless rig I often use Owner Ultrahead Finesse Ball Head. It's basically a wide gap hook with a weight on the head. Works great! 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 I'm not calling anyone weak. I'm calling the argument that some inanimate object somehow gives you confidence is false hope. What happens to your confidence the day that magical lure doesn't work? Then what? Do you fail? Or do you adjust? Have confidence in your skills in locating active fish, and using a bait that matches the situation. I have confidence in my problem solving skills. To me, a confidence bait is darn near the same as the next new magic bait. 4 Quote

Once the boat comes down off of plane the first thing I grab is a Texas Rig, Wacky Rig, Shaky Head Weightless T-rig, Carolina Rig, Jig-N-Craw, Mojo Rig, Rage Rig, Drop Shot or anything that takes me to the bottom. I'm gonna be casting, flipping, pitching, punching, hopping, dragging, shaking, dead sticking, or skipping. I don't care if its grass, brush, timber, rocks, docks, pads, lay downs, shore line or off shore. I don't care if its pre- spawn, spawn, post spawn, summer, dog days, fall, winter, morning, noon, or night. Give me 2 rod-n-reels with any of the above techniques & I be happy, happy, happy! 2 1 Quote
All about da bass Posted April 27, 2018 Author Posted April 27, 2018 Well dude, I just asked for what's your confidence lure not all that. I didn't want to cause trouble or an argument. There is no magic bait for me. When the bait I think that's gonna catch them doesn't, that's when I try something else I think is gonna work under whatever the conditions are that day. If that bait that I'm confident that will catch them doesn't, it's going back in the bag. It doesn't matter what your throwing or what your doing, you HAVE to have confidence in it. Enough said. Super User J Francho Posted April 27, 2018 Super User Posted April 27, 2018 Relax Francis, it's called having an opinion. Not everyone has to agree with everything you or I say. I am confident that EVERY SINGLE BAIT I own, can and will get bit, if the conditions are right. That's what we're trying to teach you. 1 Quote

EGbassing Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Black/blue zoom lizard. Just bought a package a couple months ago and already caught two 6 pounders, and numerous smaller ones. Quote
greentrout Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 My mileage: when I need a bite to get a fish in the boat, I have confidence the Zoom Watermelon Red is my best shot. I watch the Pros on the cable Outdoor channel who are always talking about what they have confidence in...of course for that day and body of water... Quote

gilkeybr Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Ned rig for me. If I can't get bit tossing a ned rig around, then I start to assume the bite is off. I wasn't a believer last year, but at this point i'm totally sold. Was bummed last night when I broke off on a fish (should have re-tied) and didn't have any TRDs in my bag. 1 Quote
