nighthawk25 Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Theres a 120 acre lake that I like to fish since its super nice, has clear water, very little boat traffic but I am having a hard time catching anything decent. I know theres big bass there, I caught my PB there. The problem is that its a big fishbowl and has very little mid depth cover and structure. Visibility varies through the year but usually 5-10'. During summer I can always catch some 10-12" dinks up shallow. I was out tonight and got skunked. I threw blades, jerkbaits, cranks, dropshot, grub. Water temp was 41 and it was very overcast with a light ESE breeze. I marked lots of fish I deep water but couldn't get them to bite. Here's what my screen looked like in deeper water. Quote

I figure if it was brush, I would have snagged it with my blade, it was like this for 100 yds or so. There was also a lot of little pods of suspended fish in 20-30'. Quote

I think the DNR stocked some channel catfish (I should check for sure). I just don't know why someone would plant brushpiles or whatever in 50' of water... Quote
crypt Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 if someone planted them, they did it on purpose. they will know where they are and no one else. Quote

Super User WRB Posted March 29, 2018 Super User Posted March 29, 2018 A lure to use at this depth is a 3/4-1 oz structure spoon, everything will strike a spoon and the treble hook will snag whatever is there. I disagree, the marks looks like fish to me along with trees, maybe weighted Xmas trees? The bottom marks look like they are moving 51'-45', how fast were you moving? Tom Quote
