Yes, it is the first day of spring today.

We are having up to 2-inces of snow forecasted for Virginia, with a lot more heading north.

But wait!!!!! It is not over. Check out what Dave says on Wxrisk.com about this Sunday:

ARE YOU ALL READY FOR THE PUNCHLINE ?

I'm sure many you are thinking that this Wed event is the last one for the season. Well as Yoda said to OBI-WAN in Star Wars Episode 5......"no, there is another..."

Some of the models are taking the Next system and dropping it much further south as it comes in from Ohio. The Monday afternoon European has a pretty decent snowstorm for much of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware on Sunday March 25...

Seems like it has been a long, cold winter for most of the northern states. Good thing spring is around the corner.

Yep, but don't be fooled.

Strong cold weather will hit the US after April 5th.

Could have a negative impact on crops.

"**ATTENTION FRUIT FARMERS .... ORCHARDS ...VINEYARDS AND GREENHOUSES IN THE MIDDLE OF ATLANTIC REGION ****

As I discussed and posted previously we have several warm days in a row coming up... starting on Thursday and continuing to about April 3rd or 4th. Some areas in Virginia and North Carolina could get close to 80 degrees on some of these days... And low 70s across much of West Virginia ...Maryland ...northern Delaware ...Southeastern Pennsylvania
..and Southern New Jersey.

This is going to cause some significant vegetative growth and may cause early BUD BREAK...

The problem or danger is that after April 5th the patterns going to turn quite cold.... probably for the rest of the month. There data already suggests that large portions of the western half of Virginia ...including the Shenandoah Valley ....as well as Western & central Maryland ....The Valleys of West Virginia.... and North West North Carolina will see mornings with temperatures down into the middle and upper 20s. With early Bud break the risk of Frost or freeze from temperatures like this could cause significant damage.

WxRIsk's primary concern is agriculture especially as we move into the spring season. I offer number different types of forecasts which are particularly useful for agricultural and livestock concerns in the middle of Atlantic region.

While overall weather patterns are always very important.... in the spring and summer season Micro climates are also quite important and are very difficult to forecast if you are using the Weather Channel... Accu blunder or nws. They don't know the area like I do and I know your microclimate.
