Need help bass fishing Deerfield

Looking for some fun spots to fish for small or large mouth or peacock(?) in the Broward county area. I have two boys who are little fishermaniacs so I’m happy renting a canoe or John boat or if there is a local guide people recommend please let me know. Be there next week. Thanks!!

As far as largemouth go, any canals in the area should have bass.  Just throw a worm or fluke parallel to the shoreline, working it through any vegetation you can find and you're in business.  If you can fish around bridge pylons, a bend in the canal, or any other unique feature the fish will tend to stack up in pretty good numbers since there aren't many other features available in a canal.

 

Peacocks can be caught in Lake Ida and Osborne, a little north of Deerfield.  You'll need to be in a boat to target them, so a guide might be a good option.  If you can just rent a boat it's small enough you could figure out the lake without a guide though.  You can skip every dock in Ida from a kayak in about 5-6 hours.  From shore, you'd probably need to go farther south to have a lot of success.

 

Florida doesn't have smallmouth.

I work in Deerfield Beach, FL and fish every day during my lunch hour from the bank.  I would recommend Quiet Waters Park.  I have caught great numbers there and a few that went 3+ lbs this year.  The Renaissance Festival is currently going on so some of the water is not accessible, but there are still many good banks to fish.  Use a 5" Senko (Watermelon Seed or dark red) either weightless or T-Rigged with a 1/16 oz bullet weight and fish VERY slow.  I can almost guarantee you will catch bass.

I'd recommend that you spring for a guide trip out of Lake Ida in Delray Beach.  The guides net live shad and it makes for an awesome trip.  They catch the heck out of largemouth, peacocks and sometimes clown knifefish.  There are several good outfits who fish there daily bassonline, Butch Moser, swamptosea, or hawghunterguideservice...

If you want to catch a Peacock just to catch one regarldess of size, there is a small lake at Polussa park in DelRay.  Can walk the whole thing in a short period of time and fish from the shoreline.  There are Peacocks but small ones - 1lb or so.

I've heard most of the peacocks in Palm Beach County succumbed to back-to-back cold fronts earlier this year.
