Super User A-Jay Posted March 14, 2018 Super User Posted March 14, 2018 For those thinking about protecting your electronics investment - Graph Glass may be a product worth looking into. Form the companies web page: "Graph Glass is made from the highest grade Japanese quality glass, offering you premier strength and transparency. With a Graph Glass screen protector installed on your GPS/Fishfinder you can rest assured that your investment is protected from impact damage. Thousands of units are cracked every single year and believe it or not, they are not covered by standard manufacturer warranties. From 9-H glass, these protectors are shatterproof, anti-fingerprint, extremely transparent, and touch friendly. Do not stress the annoying water-spots, salt rings, and slime stains as the tempered glass cleans much easier than stock screens. Graph Glass is currently offering screen protectors compatible with Lowrance and Humminbird products. Replacement Guarantee: We offer a free one year product replacement. If your Graph Glass screen protector is cracked within one year of purchase, we will replace it! Please email graphglassmail@gmail.com to file a replacement claim. Please include original purchase receipt, picture proof, explantation, and contact & shipping info." I just ordered a couple. Using the code "CLASSIC" gets you 20% off. Super User senile1 Posted March 14, 2018 Super User Posted March 14, 2018 I will have to look into this. I have never cracked my glass yet but there is always that chance. Whoops! I don't see Garmin listed under their products. 1 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted July 10, 2019 Author Super User Posted July 10, 2019 So after a season plus of use, here's the scoop; Pro's ~ First I am glad to report that I have Not needed the product's advertised Impact protection. Nice to know it's there though. The glass does resist water spots and does clean up super easy. There is Zero in the way of image distortion that impedes a clear view. After a couple of weeks, I actually forgot they were on there. My unit's Helix units are not touch screen so I can not evaluate the product's no-finger print claims. Cons ~ And this is a BIGGIE ~ GLARE !!!! With the sun directly hitting the screen, there is some major flash back making the screen difficult to see. Not so much at the console but the my bow unit is flush mounted almost on the deck and at an angle that makes the glare shooting back up into my grill seriously annoying. The company recently put out an Anti-Glare version of the product - but the $58 price point does not have me chomping at the bit to replace them. Sent the company a message today asking about switching what I have for the Anti-glare version and for perhaps a bit of break on the price. So we'll see what's what here if they choose to respond. More to follow A-Jay Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 10, 2019 Super User Posted July 10, 2019 I have been looking for that kind of product. I have a couple of Solix units. I touch the one at the bow a bunch. It is a pain to get it clean. I think I will order the anti glare and try it there. Thanks for the good review. 1 Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted July 13, 2019 Super User Posted July 13, 2019 My anti glare glass came in the mail yesterday. I plan to mount it today. If I like it I’ll get one for the console unit. 1 Quote

Hope the old ones come off without the need for unconventional weaponry. Graph Glass customer service seems to believe they do. We'll find out. A-Jay 1 Quote
Janderson45 Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Just ordered two of the anti-glare models myself, had been looking for a product like this. There’s definitely cheaper alternatives out there, but I don’t want to degrade the image quality of the units with lower quality glass. Hope they’re worth it! 1 Quote

Can't speak for the Anti-glare properties just yet however if that property turns out to be even reasonably effective and the rest of it remains unchanged, I believe you are going to be happy with their performance. After a short time, you may totally forget that they are even on there. I did. A-Jay Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 18, 2019 Super User Posted July 18, 2019 Just make sure the glass anti glare is compatible with your polarized sunglasses. Not much fun taking off the sunglasses to see the sonar display. Tom 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 18, 2019 Super User Posted July 18, 2019 I put mine on and fished in a cloudless sky. 0 glare. I did not notice the screen at all. No problem seeing the screen with my $20 Wally World polarized glasses. It also cleaned easier than the console unit. Next time I am mad at $50 I will get another. 1 Quote

Tim Kelly Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Not sure how a completely inflexible material in direct contact with your screen would offer much impact protection, but the anti glare and easy clan properties sound good. Quote

I’m not quite sure how it works exactly, but can tell you from experience with similar products on smartphone screens that it does make a difference. I’ve shattered the tempered glass screen protectors on my iPhone before without any damage to the screen itself. Would that impact damage of broken the screen itself if the extra layer of glass wasn’t on there? Not sure, but not looking to find out either. If nothing else it’s great for scratch resistance as well. Much cheaper to replace a scratched glass screen protector than the units screen itself. 1 Quote

Janderson45 Posted July 23, 2019 Posted July 23, 2019 Mine came yesterday - USPS package looked just like the one A-Jay photographed above. Luckily the internal contents in mine were fine too. 1 Quote
