Neko Rig Soft Stick Bait : 4" or 5" ?

As the title suggests - what size soft stick bait (senko , dinger , ocho , etc.) do you prefer to use for the Neko Rig ? Interestingly enough I see most of the west coast pros prefer the 4 " stick bait for a Neko Rig - which seemed a bit small to me as I thought a 5" stick bait would have more action using the Neko Rig ? ... Your thoughts and experiences ? Thanks in advance ...

I like the 5" Dingers for Neko rig.

 

I actually prefer a paddle tail Dinger I found in the clearance bin at Walmart last year over a regular Dinger. Something about it drove the Bass nuts when I Neko rigged it. I have since run out and can't find them anywhere.

The slower the fish are biting, likely the smaller the presentation as with most finesse presentations. A Neko Rig is really a hybrid of sorts between a wacky rig and a shakey head. It combines features from both.

 

One "big deal" is to make certain your hook point is facing down so that when the bass grabs onto its floating tail, it'll be oriented correctly for a better hook up.

 

5" worms will shimmy better than a 4" length, I think, and I prefer a plastic with a floating tail.

neko rig is my new favorite finesse technique...I like more of a finesse style worm..

if I had to use a stick bait... I would use 5" over a 4"

I believe it was Brent Ehrler - Bass Pro Elite that favors the 4 " stick bait on a Neko Rig ... I'm searching to see if this a California thing only (in clear water) or if there is another reason for the 4" useage ? ... *Looking at a 4" stick bait - throwing it on a Neko Rig would not come to mind  - conversely NEVER underestimate these California Pros on the FLW or Bass Pro Elite Tours (lol) !

Neko rig is the nail weight rig renamed, been around for 45+ years.

I like a 5" finesse worm 1/4" cut off the nose end for the 3/32 oz weight to be inserted.
