Will1248 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Anytime I find Sebile baits at various places usually like a Kmart, sams club or some other weird place they are almost ALWAYS on sale. Is this a sign that they are bad? Sebile is not talked about much except for their magic swimmer swimbait a few years ago.Other than that I really can not find anything about them? Does this mean they are bad? I have tested them and they have great hooks (mustad sometimes owner), run true right out of the box, cast for miles and the sunfish series has a very good erratic wobble of the 4 that I have tested, more than 3 so it is significantly significant. I picked up some jerkbaits to test them this week, but why are they not talked about that much they look very good for how cheap they are. Quote
drew4779 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 I like them. I've done some real damage with magic swimmers and cranksters. Both are among my top producers each year. I wouldn't worry too much about what you hear or don't hear. Especially if you're catching fish with them. 1 Quote
Will1248 Posted March 11, 2018 Author Posted March 11, 2018 @drew4779 thank you for responding this has been burning a hole in my skull. I just find it weird how an amazing, award winning brand, fantastic color palate, good hooks, and weight transfer system lures that normally costs $10-15 is always on sale for about $4-6. It seems like a bunch of people do not buy them and I was just curious if I was missing something, like they cause leprosy. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 11, 2018 Super User Posted March 11, 2018 They were bought by Pure Fishing, and have almost fallen to the wayside within their offerings, especially since the Berkley branded hardbaits get the push now. It's a shame, they used to have a decent flat sided square bill that I liked in cold water as a shallow change up bait during the time of year I usually use a lipless crank. I lost them all to toothy critters, and haven't bothered looking for them again. Once Pure Fishing discontinues a bait, I'm done with it once my stock is used up, and I move onto a replacement to avoid the "holy grail" type searches needed to find them anymore. 1 Quote
drew4779 Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 I wish I could find them on sale locally. I ended up buying a lot of 10 unpainted KO on ebay for $15 and painting them myself. Makes for a good winter project. However, I probably ended up paying more in the long run after buying hooks and split rings (already had an air bush and paint). Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted March 11, 2018 Super User Posted March 11, 2018 The original sebiles are money, I have a nice cache of bongas, splashers, cranksters, flat shads, koolie minnows and stick shads. Love them all. After pure fishing took over, quality went to crap, baits are not the same. I tried a couple but there's no comparison. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 12, 2018 Super User Posted March 12, 2018 I will echo the same thing others have already said. I don't know about the action first series but the original Sebile lures are great! For me the Flatt Shad, which was brought back from being discontinued, and the 50 size crankster, those two baits there are no substitutes for. I don't know if the new Flatt Shad is the same because it is a lot cheaper than the original but it has a similar look. That is one of, if not the best, lipless cranks I ever fished, for guys that like the Red Eye Shad from Strike king, the Flatt Shad has a distinct flutter on the fall but it is thin and has a hard tight vibration that fish can't stand. The Crankster is another bait that doesn't appear much different but the fish just kill it. I use the shallow diving 1/4oz version, it is like a really finesse version of Baby 1 minus, an awesome for bare banks or when the fish look or follow bigger cranks but won't commit. The action first series doesn't look like the original high end Sebile lures but that isn't the reason I haven't tried them, the reason is they haven't put out anything that I think would be good for the waters I fish, either the depth range is wrong or the sizes don't match up to what I want. As you can probably tell, I really liked the original Sebile lures, I have other Sebile lures that I like and work well but the two I mention are standouts but sadly Pure Fishing decided to make that brand a run of the mill lure and trying to sell by keeping the name most anglers associate with the original high end baits from years past. Will1248 Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 @smalljaw67 Are you familiar with the Storm sub-wart? That sounds like the exact action it was before it was discontinued. Manns minus 1 is okay but they dont bite it the same. Ill have to pick on up for sure. Ive been butthurt about it for a long time. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 12, 2018 Super User Posted March 12, 2018 Outstanding baits. You found them at K-Mart and Sam's Club? Not any Siebel at any K-Marts or Sam's Clubs in the greater Richmond area. Of course, K-Marts are not in the best of neighborhoods so I don't go to them often. I may have to check them out to see if they have the Siebel products. Thanks for the post. And where are you located? Would help to know so we could ask management to contact that store's buyer to get some Siebel products shipped to my local stores. Quote
Will1248 Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 @Sam I am in Columbia, SC, if you have an Ollies outlet store then a few of the action first series are going for $4 now but hurry. Sams and Kmart had them many moons ago about 2014-15 I think. I always found them on sale at random places and now I regret that terribly. Quote

Will, I have a 10% off coupon for Ollie's so I will head over there tomorrow. Never look at their fishing stuff. Just buy their coffee pods and leave the store. Thanks a million for the info. Sincerely appreciate it. Quote
Will1248 Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 @Sam I really wanted a white colored flat belly and Green holo jerk but they didnt have any. Just pay it forward though, you help someone, I help someone and the world gets better. If you save them you can probably make a decent penny in a year or two. Quote
