michbass Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Can anyone offer some advice for selling a boat as quick as possible? Which sites seem to work better? Have been using boattrader but get alot of scams responses. I know there are a ton of for sale sites.Which ones do you guys like better. Will use ebay as a last resort, had some bad experiences with it in the past. I have flyers up locally, and have fingers crossed, even offering $500 to anyone gets it sod for me and I get more calls about the $500 than for the boat. :-/ Only reason I want to sell quick is have a chance at a mint 05 520vx for a great price. Wish I could keep both. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 Have you considered taking it to a marine dealer and having them sell it for you? Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 What boat and motor do you have? How much do you need out of it? (Is there a loan?) Not the best time of year to attempt to sell a boat. If you price it cheap enough and it's the right boat you should be able to sell the thing. Quote

I know this isnt the place for it so I dont want to make it a classified, but there is a loan on it and that is what I am looking to get out of it, its a 05, 200 optimax ranger reata, less than 10hrs on motor. A ton of extras, gps, custom stuff, mint cond. My biggest problems are wrong time of year and that it is a fish and ski. Although I love the boat and when I bought it I planned on using it with the family and tubing and such but it turns out it is normally just lonely me using it. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 30, 2007 Super User Posted August 30, 2007 Just a couple things, Ranger or not, you're likely to take a bath on that if you are the original owner. Boat depreciation is every bit as bad as that on an auto, maybe worse. Not too sound too negative, it's not only a bad boat selling time of the year (especially if you're trying to move it fast) but the economy is kinda soft for boat sales to begin with. Add to that the fact that it's a fish n ski, the ski season will be closing here very shortly. I feel for you. I nearly bought a fish and ski a number of years ago when the kids were younger. We used to family camp and do the whole ski/tube/kneeboard deal. It was my wife that nixed the deal when she saw the postage stamp sized rear casting deck. When she asked me about it I could only breathe a sigh of relief. Those F & S's, especially under 19' make pretty poor bass fishing platforms when compared to a regular bassboat. I'd only buy one if you absolutely HAVE to. Quote
kybassangler Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 I'd hafta agree with cart, it is a horrible time of the year to sell a boat. I have a v-bottom I can't get anybody serious about. Quote

I'm in Florida and the next few months are great for selling bass boats. Fall, Winter, & Spring are the best months for fishing in Florida IMHO. Quote
rfrazier Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Have you tried craigslist.com it's free. Craigslist is a great option. Most people I know have found their cars/boats through craigslist. Quote

I found all three of the boats I've bought over the last year including this one just a few days ago on CL. I'd try CL first. Good luck. Quote
michbass Posted August 30, 2007 Author Posted August 30, 2007 Thanks, Put an ad up on craigslist. The only bad thing is an hour later it is there pages back :-/ The only thing saving me on the boat is that I got it as a close out from a dealer going out of business. I owe alot less the current nada bluebook so I would even let someone take over payments. Someone can come sell it too if they like Quote
