I have 3 favorite tackle shops by the way. 32 minutes ago, Oregon Native said: I'm almost like Catt.....prefer going into a local tackle store like I did in the good ol days. Like to BS with others and support a place where if I need something quick it's usually there. Pretty rare for me to order.  I'm ole school ?  I wanna look you in the eyes so you'll understand if I have a problem with a purchase you'll have a problem! 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted March 8, 2018 Super User Posted March 8, 2018 Other than Wal Mart and the Farm Store there is no tackle store here . I have to order on-line or drive 100 miles . 1 Quote
MNGeorge Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Except emergencies or really good sale prices, I buy everything on line. Quote
Troy85 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Maybe 5% online. I only buy something online if I can't find it in the store. Quote
junyer357 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 About 80% online. Mosty tackle wharehouse, ebay, and siebert. Occasionally from acadamy if they dont have it in store. Bass pro is too high on anything but their brand stuff. Around here its mostly acadamy and a local tackle shop with a smidgen of walmart.  Quote
bwillis Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 Probably about 50/50 for me these days. Various places online, or Wal-Mart/Dick's/Bass Pro locally Quote
nascar2428 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 With one tackle store in the area that caters to walleye and pan fishermen. It's been 100% online so far for this year. That may change slightly once Gander Outdoors reopens later this year. Quote
dgkasper58 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 I have gone to about 95% online. Too many good sales out there. Many stores price match as well  to avoid shipping costs and get great promotions.  I found the Curado K for $109 deal shopping. Quote

Super User Columbia Craw Posted March 8, 2018 Super User Posted March 8, 2018 50% Â I attempt to purchase as much as I can from my local family owned business. Â I am lucky to be on a first name basis with the owner and they take great care of me. We also have Sportsman's Warehouse in town with a surprisingly good selection. Â Having Cabelas and BPS in the area means nothing. They don't have anything I want. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted March 8, 2018 Super User Posted March 8, 2018 I am close to 100% online, with maybe 1-2 trips a year to SFT when I go smallie fishing in PA.  There is a Bass Pro I hit up occasionally when I am in the area, but I never buy much.   I would prefer to have more inperson options, but I live in a very salt-focused area, so most local shops don't have much for me. 1 Quote

I wish we still had a Sportsman's Warehouse. They were always a good place to pick up baits and rods cheap. Got a good flipping rod from them for only $40 out the door. Quote
Ksam1234 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 About 75% bc sometimes I like to see what I'm buying in person (weird habit ) acruslly just got hit by he bait monkey and bought 125$ in lures from tacklewarehosue today ? Quote
Hawkeye21 Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 I'm probably 95% online. There are not many options very close to me to buy tackle and those options don't have a great selection or prices. Every time I go to Cabela's I act like I'm going to buy a bunch of stuff but rarely end up getting anything because everything is full price. I can get almost any lure for a $1 less from TW than at Cabela's. I still will buy stuff from Cabela's but even then it's online when I find stuff on sale.  The only time I buy in store is if I see some discounted stuff or I'm on a fishing trip and need something now. 1 Quote

Johnbt Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 I'm pushing 75% or 90% or something. We have good shops around here: Greentop, Hopkins, etc, as well as a Bass Pro and a smaller Cabelas and multiple Dick's, but they don't carry the rods and reels I want at this point - the $250 or $300 and up ones. Sure, they'll special order a Legend Tournament Bass or a Conquest, but why should I drive across town to order it and then go back when it comes in, when I can sit at home and wait on the delivery truck?   So when I'm ordering on line I go ahead and get line and lures and such too. I love sales. And free shipping.  Of course, now that I'm on so many mailing lists I get good offers from time to time. Last week a boating goods outfit in NC emailed me a 30% off coupon good for ONE day on any ONE item. Not needing anything  I prowled around the site and discovered they had Tatula LT 2500. What the heck, it's very nice. Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 50/50 or close to it. Tackle warehouse mainly online occasionally ebay. Dicks and academy in store. I'm a bargain hunter to a fault. Quote
lo n slo Posted March 8, 2018 Posted March 8, 2018 i live 10 minutes from the lake.  years ago we had local tackle/bait stores but those days are gone. i can still drive 20 minutes to get minnows, crappie hooks, and bobbers but thats the extent of it. i could drive 45 minutes to BPS, or an hour thru Charlotte traffic to Cabelas in SC, to overpay for stuff that i can buy (in bulk) online at a much better price. nope. the local Walmart and Dicks offers some limited tackle. i buy from them on occasion.  90% online for me. Quote
blckshirt98 Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I'm probably at 60% online 40% in store for tackle/lures/reels, and 25% online and 75% in store for rods. Something about rods where I need to feel them in person before I buy. The tackle/lures/reels will probably lean towards online in the future as a few local tackle shops have closed shop the past few years. Quote
LxVE Bassin Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 I would say 30% is bought on line. I buy more online during the off-season but when I need something ASAP I got Gander or Cabela’s since my Walmart is as cool as most the guys on here. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 9, 2018 Super User Posted March 9, 2018 Probably about 80% online. I have a BPS and a Cabela’s near me but they never seem to have what I am looking for. Quote
MinnowzNuttin Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 For me probably around 85%Â TW, amazon, and ebay. Local I'll hit up academy, cabelas, and a few local tackle shops. Quote
bowhunter22 Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 probably 95% online. The only stores around here are walmart and an outdoor store that is mostly geared towards panfish, catfish, and walleye. They have one bait caster in store and its a discontinued revo winch. Pretty much the only time I do shop in store is if I'm out of town and I need to stock up a thing or two or forget something or I'm around the scheels close. I get most everything on tackle ware house cheaper Quote
