ratherbfishin1 Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Probably like 90% in store. I have a scheels, a tackle shop, and a Walmart all near my house so I do most of my shopping there. Scheels has pretty much anything I need and they will price match so that’s nice. The tackle shop has other not as popular “new” baits that you don’t generally find in other stores so if scheels doesn’t have a certain lure there’s a pretty good chance I can find it at the tackle shop. I like seeing the stuff before I buy it to make sure it’s the right thing and I get it right away so I don’t have to wait for shipping. Quote

FishDewd Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Less than 1% for me. Maybe like .3%. I love to shop online, but I also hate to wait for stuff to arrive. I try to go out on the water at least once a week weather permitting, and when I find something new that I think could work, and know a local store has it, it kills me to wait a week or more for it to arrive via mail to use it. It's distracting when I go fishing cause all I think about is the thing I could be using but can't cause it's arriving via snail mail sometime the next week. I find that usually when I factor in shipping and everything, it's about the same to buy it somewhere physical- BPS, Cabela's, Dick's, or my local private store Serious Tackle. I'm also the type to look at something in person before I buy it, I've had too many bad experiences buying something online and when it arrived didn't meet my expectations. I don't really buy stuff cause it looks good, I buy them cause I think it can actually work. I watch videos, read reviews, all sorts of stuff. And when I see something I think could really help me out I buy it. Plus I don't mind helping out local stores. The internet is cool and all but it really does put a hurt on local and big box stores. I don't want to evolve to a purely online world, and this is coming from an early millennial! Quote

Buffdaddy54 Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 95% . I live 10 min away from a BassPro but they have gotten to be a bunch of bull_hitters as far as I'm concerned. Dicks 10 min away stopped selling fishing gear,and the Walmart 5 min away never has anything I want. I used to love going to BassPro. Guys were nice and knowledgeable but that has changed, it's gotten to the point where I feel like I'm bothering them when I ask for advice. Shame, you would think local guys would be a wealth of info and willing to help. Quote

I used to buy a ton of stuff from Amazon, fishing-related and otherwise, but I feel like in the last year or two the prices have been rising so much that even with "free" shipping with Prime, I can usually get the exact same thing off of eBay for less even when I have to pay a separate shipping charge. I also got sold some very obvious bootleg batteries via Amazon last year, and when I looked around for information about it it seems like a ton of people are having problems like that now that most stuff on Amazon is actually sold and shipped by third-party companies.
