Anyone know anything about older Johnny Morris Signature Series Rods?

Hey everyone, I was able to somehow get my hands on a new Johnny Morris Signature Series 6' Casting rod, older model JX60MT - It is described as medium action with nothing else listed in terms of power/action.  It actually seems like it has a softer action than fast, so I am wondering if this is comparable to a medium/moderate rod.  I was thinking this rod would be good to have for some bank fishing around trees and such, and perhaps kayak fishing.  It is an 85 million modulus rod, which is pretty high for a rod, and it was made I think earlier in 2000, as I've seen the model referenced in 2002 and 2006. 

 

I'm a big fan of BPS rods, as I've used the same bionic blade for almost 20 years, bought a similar model used over the summer because I was so fond of it, and only recently upgraded to some newer rods, one of which is a new model JMSS (other two are new model Shimano Expride and Curado rods) Any ideas on this older model?

For what this is worth, I bought my husband one in 1980 or 1981..(Married 38 years)...A 7' 6" Medium Action spinning model with a cork handle and cork above where reel seats in..Part of the rod will sink into the butt handle (about a foot) for easier transportation..He has a cast counter, so if you're wondering if they'll hold up - try this on for size...Married 38 years with him fishing probably 51 days per year minimum, casting top water (rigs a worm weedless and walks dog popper style with it) at least 600-750 times per day, he has to have a minimum of 1,162,800 (one million, one hundred sixty-two thousand, eight hundred) casts on it..His 177 IQ makes him get bored easily, so he keeps track of all he catches on it, plus sizes/lengths/girths...More than 51,000 with a weight in excess of 200,000 lbs. of Large Mouth Bass, approx. 24,000 Small Mouth with total weights of 47,000 lbs., approx. 700 Channel Catfish with total weights of 12,400 lbs., at least 550 Blue Catfish with total weights of 5,100 lbs. (largest 55 lbs) and Crappie that probably would go near 25,000 at least, with an average weight of 1-2 lbs. each..So if you wonder if it is durable, he's living proof...If I told you how much he has been offered for that rod, you'd call me a liar!

I don't know how I missed this comment...I love the statistics!  Thank you for sharing - BPS might love to hear about that with it being great for advertising   I have no doubt in regard to the quality...the close to 20-year-old bionic blade I have has performed beautifully all these years, so much so that I ordered 4 more of similar styles, used, because I was accustomed to that particular style.  The new and unused, older model JMSS I purchased that has unique specs on it of just "medium".  Beautiful looking rod that I'm confident will perform well.  I am guessing the spec of just "medium" is actually a medium/moderate rod, judging by the feel of it.
