Super User Oregon Native Posted March 7, 2018 Super User Posted March 7, 2018 Well...was blessed once more with an empty parking lot here in East Tennessee. Arrived at ramp at 7:45 and hit the water. Was pretty cold....36 to be exact and that's not counting the wind chill. This little lake had whitecaps today which made the plastic bite kind of tough. Water temp was 46 I believe. Fished for about three hours and noticed they were really drawing down the lake....which made me nervousfor the ramp I was using so left early. Also forgot my lunch...I like to eat...so came home and touched up three reels that weren't performing to standards and tied some jigs for this weekend. Ended up with about seven fish...three keeps and this one nice one. Tight Lines 13 Quote

That’s pretty much par for the course on chickamauga, guntersville, Pickwick, and ky lake. @Oregon Native frequents the much quieter lakes 2 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 10, 2018 Super User Posted March 10, 2018 Its interesting to hear what fellow anglers go through in their trips. My little private home lake has very good fishing and My estimate is that I do 95 % of all the fishing thats done on the lake. I rarely see any one fishing when Im on the water. ? Its a mystery to me. Why would you live on a lake and never use it? Quote

Guess the best answer is "your blessed" 1 Quote

I can be on the Melton Hill in five minutes if I used the awful ramp at the bottom of our hill....but prefer driving ten minutes to a better ramp. Other lakes....within a half hour....Ft Louden, and Watts Bar. Norris....50 min. Douglas and cherokee an hour. 2 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted March 11, 2018 Super User Posted March 11, 2018 Most of our lakes are 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours away., but there's always the St johns river and its tributaries.? Closest ramp to the river is 10 minutes. Quote

They were in their boats; in trees; hiding in bushes; under the boat; at the ramp; in their cars watching you with binoculars. Even the ducks were watching you. OK. Just kidding. Good practice for tournament day when you will encounter the same problems with guys all over the place, especially the locations you prefished with success. Good luck in the tournament. Let us know how you do. Quote
