Hey guys. What happens when a shimano xship bearing goes bad.  My chronarch ci4 has started grinding on the retrieve and there’s a knock going on in the reel. I checked my gears and everything there is good.  I really believe it’s the xship bearing I just want to make sure.

Send it to Shimano for repair.

Who knows without taking the reel down to check the bearing.  That is the same bearing on the crank shaft.  That Xship bearing is only a stabilizer for the pinion gear and is not a high speed bearing

Actually grinding or just more sound?  The light weight Shimano's tend to get noisy once they free up. No way to diagnose sight unseen

I’ve had this reel for 3 years so it’s already broken in.  There is a knock in the reel now. And the reel is very rough on the retrieve.  It feels as if it’s coming from the spool tension area. That’s why I think it’s the xship bearing.
