Best early March lures in pa

Just caught 2 nice bass using red eye shad lipless. Actually first time I’ve had success ever with lipless. Normally I use shakey head worm or jig. Any suggestions for cold pa lake fishing in early March?

The fish want lipless, give them lipless. JBs, squarebills, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swim jigs, and plastics all have their place, depending on water temperature and conditions. I always like to start with a moving bait, and go to soaking plastic only if the fish want that. Its important to keep in mind that conditions can change quickly from day to day (and even hour to hour) so stay flexible. "Fish the fronts" was some of the best advise I was given a long time ago. In the early portion of the pre spawn fish often will be found in bunches or pockets, so you may need to look around, and then hunker down. This is one of my favorite times to fish.

I didn’t think I would get a nibble but I saw a couple 3 ft musky breaching the surface and I got pumped up there was some activity. 90% of my catches come from shakey head, jigs, soft swimbait and vibrating jig. I have numerous lipless but never fully bought in. I would pick it up now and then but never committed. Now I am a believer. Still hesitant for crankbaits and Spinnerbaits but I know I should start using these also. A work in progress I guess.

Love Traps in the early Spring. In the traditional ice out spots I know hold Bass some times. You need to "wake them up with a rattle bait". I might only catch a couple but once they get moving I can usually clean up with finesse baits.

Suspending jerkbaits is my goto in March for both LM and SM.  Just work them slooooow.

I gotta go with the Jerkbait as well. You just have to build up the confidence to stick to it when the bite is slow. On lakes that have it I focus on steep rocky drop-offs. Caught my pb doing that just last weekend.
