Upgrading most of my arsenal, am I missing anything?

It's been about 10 years since I really upgraded my gear. Please let me know your opinions on what I have and what you think I might be missing.

 

New this year:

G. Loomis IMX-PRO 853C JWR with a Daiwa Tatula SV TW 103XS. This will be my contact bait rod. Senkos, T-rigs, jigs. I'll probably get a slower reel down the road.

 

G. Loomis E6X 842S SJR with my old Sahara 2500. This is for drop shots, wackys, lightweight topwater. Just a general lighter baits, do all spinning setup.

 

Berkley 7' MH Lightning Rod Shock with a Pfluger Trion baitcaster. This is on it's way still. I bought this for a frog rod, but I'm already thinking about upgrading the rod. Either a Tatula 7' 4", a Veritas 2.0 7'6" or a Dobyns Fury 753C.

 

Old stuff I'm still using:

G Loomis PR844C with either a Daiwa Exceler or Revo S. This has been my crankbait / topwater rod for years. I can't see it going anywhere. 

 

Shimano Clarus CSC80HB with a Shimano Cardiff 300A. This is my swimbait rod. I know I could get a lot lighter in weight on this setup, but I don't fish it enough to make it a priority. 

 

OK guys, have at it. Does this look good or do you see big holes? I have a lot more to choose from, but this is my plan starting out this season.

Seems ok to me. Only you can decide! Without knowing your fishing intentions and how you usually opt to fish it would be hard to tell you otherwise. Do you fish for fun or compete in tournaments at all? Bank, boat, yak, other? Do you opt for more soft plastics/jigs or like the hard bait/reaction stuff? Water clarity? Depth? It all comes into play. Some CA guys would likely note a swimbait outfit missing but if you have zero desire to do it the suggestion would be irrelevant. Same could be said among the guys on Okechobee flipping heavy grass. Then there are the guys on the Ozark lakes that like their wiggle warts and jerkbaits.

 

I would like to think when the number of outfits are limited the more versatility I want in each with only maybe 1 or 2 specialty outfits. Think similar to if you were a co-angler fishing tournaments.

Looks good to me. You got the bases covered with some quality equipment. I would agree with updating the frog rod. Not a big fan of the Lightning rods when there are better rods for a little more money. But if you are on a budget those lightning rods will do.

Nope no tourneys. I just bass fish for the love of it. I'm almost always in my 10' jon boat, I very seldom bank fish. Water clarity varies from late summer algae filled ponds to crystal clear rocky lakes. And there is a swimbait setup in there.

I came across that frog setup at FFO tackle. I got it and the Trion reel for $48 shipped. I actually looked at one today at Walmart. I'll probably end up giving it to my son. Most of his gear got stolen last year so he's getting setup with my old stuff that I'm replacing.

I would definitely try to upgrade the frog rod if it were me. Other than that maybe a designated jerkbait rod. 6’4-6’10 M/Moderate. Then there are so many things you can throw on a 7’MH/F rod that they are never a bad choice. Butbreally its all up to you and what you like to do and how you like to fish!

Also, I would not get a slower reel for the first setup. All of my bottom contact reels are either a 7.1:1 or 8.1:1. Lets you pick up line faster when they swim at you and gets line in faster to throw it out again.
