toni63 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Cleaned, lubed, respooled and ready to go. Does it take you guys an hour for each reel too? This year I even coded each on the butt end with a piece of tape with the LB test of the line on it. I always think I will remember what I spooled it with but then forget. So some tape, a sharpie, then some clear tape over that hopefully will keep me organized better this year. Couple these Bass Pro Qualifiers I didn't do this with last year but they cleaned up real nice anyway. I gotta say I am very impressed with how easy these reels are to clean and maintain, its like they built maintenance into the design to make it easy. 1 Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I ❤️ the PQ reels. I bought a whole bunch of them for dirt cheap to resell, and I just can’t make myself get rid of them (and I even have array of much higher end reels). 1 Quote
Russ E Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 I spend a lot more time maintaining my reels lately. there was a time when all I did was fish with them. they work a lot better if you keep them lubed 1 Quote
jbrew73 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 It takes me an hour to completely disassemble all the way to the frame, clean, lube and reassemble a reel like that. It's a little quicker if I put all the small parts in the ultrasonic cleaner but I don't usually bother pulling it out if I'm doing a few reels at a time. Quote
Fairtax4me Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Takes an hour easy. I try to lube the bearings every couple weeks at the least (I use my reels multiple times a week and every weekend spring thru fall). I also pop the side plates off and lube the gears and release mechanism and clean and oil the anti-reverse bearing about every 2-3 months or every other time I reline. I tend to go through a lot of line for some reason. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted March 5, 2018 Super User Posted March 5, 2018 It can take up to an hour that why I only do mine once a year. Other than that I send to professionals. I might start deep clean bearing on shimano reel myself so I don't have to send my reels out every two years. Quote
