millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Does anyone add trailers to your chatter bait ,and if so what is your weapon of choice? Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 It is funny, I don't use trailers on spinnerbaits but I always use a trailer on a chatterbait. Most of the time I'm using a swimbait trailer but I will also use a fluke style trailer from time to time. Quote
millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Thanks ,yea I don't know ,I always used them straight out of the box but yesterday I put a 4 inch pit boss on a couple of them . I cut about 3/4 off first, don't know if it will catch fish but they look good. Quote
Jelvas Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 Yes i do. Mostly paddle tail swimbaits but also grubs and, sometimes, rage tail craws. Quote
millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Cool. I will probably go get some of those paddle tails and try them also ,maybe a 3 or 4 inch, don't know what size. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 3, 2018 Global Moderator Posted March 3, 2018 When I use Z Man's I use the twin tail they come with. For others I use a headless shinny dipper. Mike Quote
millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Thanks everyone ,I will check all of them out. those z mans have caught me some fish in the past I just thought I try something different, now if only the weather would change. Thanks again Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 Me too on the paddle tail or 5 in. Grub. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 Rage Tail Eeliminator or Structure Bug 1 Quote
millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Thanks ,I think strike king has a good selection of colors. Quote
Backroad Angler Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I've started to use craw daddys as trailers for chatterbaits. Quote
JFlynn97 Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I've recently started using the new Gary Yamamoto Zako Swimbait on all of my chatterbaits and I've fallen in love with it. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 Soom Super fluke Strike king Blade Minnow Havoc Subwoofer Rage Menace Quote
Super User JustJames Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 Paddle tail here, mostly Zman, paddlerZ and diezel but mixed in with other for color selection. Quote
millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Thanks they all sound good, going to need another box for plastics , I can see that coming. For the swim jigs like the 3.8 or the 4 inch fat swing impact or any the above would work alone with one of those hooks with the weight on the shank, don't know what there called Quote
Fish the Mitt Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I use a variety of Keitech paddle tails mostly - usually the easy shiners or the Swing Impacts. For a bladed jig, since I rarely fish it on the bottom, I will almost always have a paddle tail or fluke style trailer. On occassion I'll throw a craw trailer, but it's rare. 1 Quote
millerp Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 I here some good things about the fat swing impacts 3.8 on 1/4 ounce jigs Quote

IgotWood Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Always. For me, either 3.8” Keithech, or a Rage Menace when I was a smaller profile with a bit less action. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 5, 2018 Super User Posted March 5, 2018 Always. I usually replace the skirt (or cut off the built in trailer strands) and wire it on, and add a rat tail (like a bass assasin) salt water 5"-7" trailer. Quote

Thank god I am not the only one, I tend to replace the skirts after the first season on the chatterbait. Quote
