you might not be happy with scorpion 70 for real BFS. It can handle light lure but I would go anything 1/8 or lower.

The Scorpion 70 isn't a true JDM reel because it's made in Malaysia and it's not a true BFS reel either.

I always thought the scorpions were made in Japan ? Then I don’t see a point in getting a scorpion over a curado 70

I think I’m changing my mind on going bfs I just want something for weightless plastics but was wanting jdm?

Is 10 to 12 pound line to heavy for a bfs reel?

You are far from bfs territory with that line size. Cut that in half and then you’re talking bfs. Casting things in the 4 gram and below range, like a crappie jig.

Digitaka and japanlureshop are my gotos.  Digital is almost always cheaper because of the free shipping. Both were at my house in under a week.

I bought a few reels from Jun at japantackle.com.  I'm very happy with prices, shipping, and service.

Oh there are differences between curado and scorpion, spool bearing which is reg bearing and Japan AR bearing which is 16 bucks a pop from shimano website. Scorpion used to made in Japan, only this new version not sure about scorpion BFS and D.C, but those are still JDM (Japan domestic market)

What does country of origin have to do with where the reel is marketed?  The Scorpion 70 is sold and marketed in Japan, there for this is a "Japanese Domestic Market" reel.

One of my sons has Scorpions that are made in Japan. I'm not a Shimano guy so I can't tell you much more than that and to agree with what some others have said. The Scorpion 70 is not a BFS reel.

I bought a reel that was a JDM model from ebay . . . . in Croatia. Bought it on a Friday at noon and it was at my door mid-afternoon on Monday for a $15 shipping fee. Unbelievable, but true.

Amazon Japan frequently has nice deals and they ship fast.  I received every one of my reels from there within 5 days.  I paid $181 shipped for my Alphas CT SV 6.3, $190 for my Alphas CT SV 7.2, and $170 for my Revo ALC-BF7.  All three reels were priced well below the other main JDM sites, even when factoring in the cost of shipping.
