Hanging out with friends, work, trying to find the meaning of life, side projects, thinking about going back to school again, making the old lady happy, dealing with family and friends drama, and deaths, driving the Subaru like I stole it, annoying the old lady with my driving, dealing with depression, Look at car parts, play video games from time to time, Finally feel asleep in my computer chair more then a few times.

I am not kidding about all that stuff. Alot of stuff has been going on. Mainly I wasn't really happy in my chosen career. I grew up in the metal fab world. My dad was a welder/machinist. I knew that those trades were dying, and I chose to go in to them. I liked it, but when you making 500 parts a day. It gets old fast, and that is modern machining. Because of that I am finally listing Father about a career.  In high school he said I should be a engineer. The local tech school has a design engineer program. I have talked to a few instructors about it, and when they found out I have a machine tool background. They were saying when I need a internship, and or a job. That company's will be fighting over me. We will see in a couple of years I guess.

As for my personal life. I have been trying to hang out with friends more then I use to. I only have a core group of like 5 friends. I know I don't have many friends, but these are people I trust and are more of a family then my family. So I have been trying to be a friend again. I tend to disappear in real life a lot also. Its not them or my job. I just tend to get in a mood were I just want to vegout after work.

On top off all this. The old lady got a concussion in September. At work off all places. She some how hit her head on file cabinet, and that's all I know. The first month or so was bad. Her vocabulary was limited, and so was her speech. Plus she had major headaches in till almost the new year if not past it. I mean she was my main concern the last 6 months.

Other then that. I have been having fun with the Subaru in the snow.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard has intern programs to teach you a trade you can use at the shipyard.

Check with Wdycrankbait as he used to work at the shipyard and he knows about it. I will send him a text to contact you.

There is a great guy who works at the shipyard and the shipyard is putting him through ODU to get his degree. I will leave him a text to get back to you with the details.

Good luck.

Sean and I either worked at Newport News shipyard, not Norfolk.  Sorry for not being able to help out.  But, I would imagine they would be comparable considering proximity and therefore competition to each other.

Tipp,

You're one of my favorite dudes here and it's always nice to hear from you.  Sounds like life has thrown you some curves, but you're doing the right thing.  I hope your lady is feeling better, and your friends are there for you just as you're there for them.  As far as work is concerned, if you want to be an engineer then just do it.   Otherwise you'll regret it later.

Hang in there pal.  It's nice to hear from you.

I will try to be around more often now. Now that winter is over. I will have some more free time, and I am less moody. I just really hate winter. Winter tends to get me really bummed out. Plus the holidays which I hate more. I don't turn in to scruge or any thing. I just hate them for some reason. I do think about moving ever year, but I don't. If it wasn't for my grandma. I would have been gone a long time ago.

As for being a engineer. I almost went back in 2016. I would have like one semester left now. I wish I would have done it then. the main reason I wanted to go. Was for a personal reason. I still plan on owning my own shop. maybe not to what most places are, but my own place. That will cater to the car and race crowd. I know way to many racers that are looking for custom parts, and if I can help them. I am more then willing. I don't even race, but I am looking for parts for my car. That if I even had a basic mill, lathe, and a welder. I could make my self.

I will admit I liked design work. I use to do it at my old machine shop job form time to time. Plus when I still had cad on my computer. I would always design stuff for my self. I would put on the head phones and get to work. I could turn out a complex part in no time.

I love it. I hear its not worth the extra 10 grand vs a base wrx, but to me it is. 6 piston brembos up front, and 4 or 2 in the back. Them alone is like 4k. It has a center diff that you can send up to 60% of the TQ. To the back wheels, or lock it full 100% up front. That setting is useless. The whole engine and the beefy part of the transmission. Set in front of the center line of the Axels. I tired it once with a inch of snow. Never touched that setting again. The better shocks and the extra 40hp are nice. Along with the two lsd.

It might ride like a donkey cart, and I might get smoked by a wrx with stage two tune in a drag race, but I didn't buy this car to go fast in a straight line. I wanted a car that could handle turns. I could have bought the wrx, and been faster, and got way better mpg, but It would have taken me a extra 10 grand. Just in parts alone.

I wanted some thing that makes me smile every time I pushed it. The only car that did that so far was the neon srt4. I had before I got this car, While the srt4 was faster in a straight line. It was fwd, and was ok in turns. There is a 90 degree turn with a slight positive bank near me. That has a posted speed limit of 35. While the srt could only hit about 45-50 before the front end started under steering. The  STI I entered that same turn at 60, hit the apex at about 65, exited it about 70. No sign of under steer or over steer with the STI. It only hurt my neck. Becasue I was fighting physics, and trying to keep my head vertical.

As a buddy once joked about. My cars have to be loud, blue, fast, have a hood scoop, and a wing. I guess he is right.
