jbmaine Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Hi all, I'll be picking up my new boat soon and my dealer said a transom saver would not work because the shorelander trailer has a center light ( no good place to mount it ). He said really with a boat, motor this size A transom saver was not necessary. Any one else run across this, or do you think he's right, it's not really needed. Here's a pic of the boat, motor, trailer. Thanks Jim Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 2, 2018 Super User Posted March 2, 2018 I'm running a standard transom saver. Before I went with it I tried My Wedge. I like the concept however the product did not fit my application. If it had I would have used it. Sure seems a lot easier and does the same job - perhaps better A-Jay http://www.m-ywedge.com/ Quote
Way north bass guy Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I currently use the my wedge on my boat, it has a 140 Suzuki on it and the trailer end is too far under the boat hull for a standard one to work properly. I’ve had the my wedge for three years now and it holds the motor perfectly. No complaints from me, and it’s way faster to use and I just toss it in the rear compartment of the boat when I launch. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 This is the style you need and you should be able to find it cheaper. The supplied bracket bolts directly underneath the light on the Shoreland'r trailer. No drilling required. Disclaimer, I know nothing about the website selling it. https://www.extrememax.com/product-p/3001.1068.htm You can kinda see the bracket mounted on mine Quote

Super User tcbass Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 Used a My Wedge for years and worked great. Quote
Super User Further North Posted March 3, 2018 Super User Posted March 3, 2018 Another happy MyWedge user here. I also run a Suzuki DF140, and I go the "belt and suspenders" route and use two, one over each cylinder. I had a transom saver similar to @slonezpon one trailer and it was a disaster, but, and this is important, that trailer was very close to the ground...the back of the trailer dragged coming out of a lot of parking lots and on more than one boat ramp. I wouldn't hesitate to use one no had I not moved to the MyWedge. Quote

Have you ever bottomed it out? Thanks Jim Quote

Thanks Jim I'll get you measurements tomorrow. I have never bottomed out and the bar is completely adjustable so if you feel you need more clearance for the lower unit, you can lengthen the bar. In the mean time, here is a pic. Quote
moguy1973 Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Something like this would work well too http://www.lock-n-haul.com/lnhua.html Quote
Super User gim Posted March 4, 2018 Super User Posted March 4, 2018 Another wedge user here. I used to use a transom saver. The wedge is so much easier and just as effective. Quote
Chefster Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Sweet rig. I am counting down the days to pick up mine too. If all goes well it will be ready next week. I purchased a motormate for mine. Haven’t used it yet. But I’ll report back once I have some time on the road with it. Quote

If I bottom that out then I'm in the wrong place. Jim Quote
