Okay I have a dilemma here. A few days ago I saw listing for curado 50e on eBay, added to my cart then checked for other things, 5-10 mins later the reel was gone. I wanted to kick my butt real hard.

Now I have a chance to buy used but good shape Core 50mg or brand spanking new chronarch 50e (cheaper). Which should I get? I don't really need new reels but just can't find to stop myself thinking about these reels.

Get the Core, I love mine.  Also love the 50E, but it’s just a bit more enjoyable the Core.  However, I advise you get both.

The Core is the best reel made.  It is very easy to self-service and fishes great.  Actually, I take that back, get the Chronarch and let me know where this deal on the Core is.  ;)

d**n didn’t think of that ?

I like the core 50mg color scheme, black with red accent (that why I paid extra for scorpion 70 instead of curado), but Core 50 and chronarch 50e basically the same reel just different frame/side plate/spool? material and 7.1 gear ratio instead of 6.4 ratio, am I right?

I love my 50e and I use it hard (my all around reel) if I buy a new reel, I'd do the same. I don't buy reel just to show and collect duct but to use it full efficiency. It is very hard decision and I have to do it quick. Should I add 13Aldebaran 50 to the mix?

Will see what he said, but look out on eBay. I think he's gonna list his there soon, over 200 of course but not much. I offered him part cash part PayPal but seems like he wants all cash. He got a lot of nice reels to be listed including core 100mg.

If you're just fishing freshwater, and the price isn't a huge difference, I'd say go for the Core. The 50e is a great little reel, but there's just something special about that Core.

There's a small tackle shop  by my work and this guy has a brand new core 50e sitting in its box, he wants 400 canadian for it, is that a fair price?

$400cdn is pretty much what they were full retail. The Core 50MG was $430 and the Core 100MG were $390 when they retailed here.

The Core 50mg7 is NOT a black reel with red accents. It is more of a dark grey with some flecks in it. Look back at the reviews on TackleTour. The color of the Core's frame will be very similar to what the Gen 1 Cumara blanks were in color.

That’s crazy, I bought mine that was sitting in a local tackle shop for half that price.

In Ontario? I'm going to try and haggle the guy down a few bucks but doubt it.

I didn't get the core, the guy being difficult. I end up with used Aldebaran 50mg7 instead. Gotta live with silver reel for now until the next core come around. Worst come to worst I just replace with 50e gear ($20) or core gear ($30).

I'm in the middle of doing lots of upgrades on my cottage and I've been waiting to get my first Aldebaran.  I did see the older Aldebaran maybe in my ok to purchase wheelhouse.  Let me know how it is?
