Socal399 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Okay so I just pulled the trigger on eBay and Bought an Dobyns fury 705cb rod, I’ve been eyeing for a couple weeks. And got a pretty good deal with the 20%off code. Now I mainly am gonna use it for squarebill fishing. But Now I need a good decent reel to match it. Looking to spend between $100-$150 for it. Any info and suggestions would be a great help and greatly appreciated! I’m still just a beginner at bass fishing! So go easy on me!! Lol Quote
Smallieseeker Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Diawa tatula sv. They can easily be found on eBay in your price range 1 Quote
CroakHunter Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Daiwa fuego. Only $70 on eBay. Its a beast of a reel at that price point and is just about as smooth as my tatula's and tatula sv's. And with the money you save you could actually buy 2 fuegos or spend the extra on squarebills, line, or other tackle. 1 Quote
Super User burrows Posted March 1, 2018 Super User Posted March 1, 2018 Shimano Casitas good reel very easy learning curve and it cast extremely well. Probably find one for 70$ on eBay. Quote
Socal399 Posted March 1, 2018 Author Posted March 1, 2018 Was actually looking a the Daiwa Tatula SV TWS 7.3:1 Casting Reel TASV103HS But it’s sold out on eBay! Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Curado 70 its a high enough quality reel you’ll likely never need to replace it. Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted March 1, 2018 Super User Posted March 1, 2018 Go with a Diawa Tatula CT in a 6.3-1. They can be purchased off Amazon for around $118. Look around because sometimes you can get them for around $100. The Tatula SV is a great reel but better for skipping and real light baits. Quote
bagofdonuts Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 just to complicate your decision. i have a lews bb1 in 5-1(might be something like 5.3) gear ratio on my sq bill set up and love it. Quote
Robert Riley Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 That Feugo pricing is hard to beat, and so is the Bass Pro PQ (i don't remember if it's on sale still). Otherwise, I've got a Lew's Speed Spool that I use for mine, and I couldn't be happier. Quote
Socal399 Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 think I narrowed it down to these two reels . Lew's BB1 Pro Speed Spool 7.1:1 Casting Reel PRS1SHZ AND Shimano Curado 7.2:1 CU70HG Casting Reel What do u guys think? I have a couple lewd speed spools that I love and i don’t really have any experience it’s Shimano except for an old Caius I started out with years ago! But I did love that reel too! And I can get both for a great deal on that auction site. Which one guys? Lol Quote
Robert Riley Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 That's a hard comparison, the curado is a great reel, but in the end, I'm a Lew's guy. If that's the new BB1 give it a try, they've redesigned it and it looks awesome. When it's two reels this close, go see if you can hold them, that's mostly what it comes down to in my opinion. 1 Quote
JDV Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 Great suggestions here. My wife has this exact rod with a Daiwa Fuego, and I have it with a Tatula CT Type-R. I've got a handful of Tatula CTs and not one has had an issue yet. Looks great on the 705cb to boot, and very affordable new on e-bay Quote
