Haven't been sick all winter, that took a big turn yesterday. Aches, congestion, nausea, lightheadedness, bad chills, and a really low temp (95.7). Went to the doctor today, it's the flu. First time I've ever got the flu shot was this year, probably the last too. Doctor said no work this week. Wife called on the way home and said our oldest has it too, going to be a rough week.

I can’t remember the last time I was sick. It’s been at least 4 years. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing

I recommend a prescription of Theraflu, whiskey, and fishing.

Ol' lady got sick about 4 weeks ago. I caught it and was sick for 2 weeks. Escaped the flu, no fever but a bad respiratory thing. I'm ok now but she has been sick going on 4 weeks, some days better than others and has gotten worse the past 2 days. She got the flu shot, I didn't. She eats healthy, I don't. She doesn't drink, I do. See where I'm going???

Bummer. Sorry to read about you and your family having the flu.

Chicken soup.  Drink a lot of chicken soup.

For some unknown reason, it will help.

Stay in bed and watch Family Feud. Good show to pass the time between naps.

The flu sucks big time . Last spring I  had fevers , chills and body aches for a week . I thought it was the flu . Then woke up one morning not being able to pee . I had a non-cancerous tumor in my bladder . It was miserable .

Just take time off and take it easy. Life will be there when you're healthy again. And look on the bright side, at least you probably won't get sick for at least another year. Can't tell you the last time I've gotten the flu or even a cold.

We've missed the flu, but my wife and I have both had bad colds this year.  Hers started getting better after a couple of days and then came back with a vengeance.  Luckily no respiratory infections.

Hang in there and rest, get plenty of fluids, and keep warm.

I got the flu for the first time in 5 years and I get the shot every year.  I also work a lot of fishing shows and come in contact with thousands of people.  I was down a week and truly believe the shot lessened the duration and severity.  5 years ago I got it full force and truly thought I was going to expire.  Down for 3 weeks.  This time I was down for a week and just treated the symptoms.  I will continue to get the shot every year!!

Sorry to hear you are sick. Rest up and get well soon.

Unfortunately the flu shot was not as effective this year. They didn't predict the strains of flu that well with this batch that's why there was an increase of flu cases. From what I understand the shot should at least lessen the severity of the symptoms you have.

I have never heard of a temp that low with the flu.  A fever is usually associated with a high temperature.

The wife has been sick twice in 2 months. Once with the flu. My son and I are knocking on wood every chance we get.

Hope you and little man get well soon, and the rest of the family doesn’t come down with it. BTW, this is what sick leave is for...

Get well soon man. I just went through it a month or so ago. The first week-10 days was misery to the max.

Then the next 10 days or so was better, but I still had to take it easy.

It's about the worst thing I have ever had. Good luck.

That is too bad Blue! I got the nasty jams last Sunday night. Very similar symptoms to what you describe. Lots of congestion, thick drainage, fatigue, hot and cold spells at the same time (Face would feel on fire and hands and feet would be ice cold), no energy, and an off an on cough. I felt like I had been hit by a truck and left for dead. Today is the first day I have felt better since last Sunday. I had to get some antiobiotics from the doc.

How are you feeling now? Any better?
