Slow day with a couple good fish.

Went Saturday from about 1130 til  dark. It was good to have some company, as  fishing_ff made the drive up from central Florida. It was an incredibly slow day considering that the weather has been consistently warm for 3 weeks here. Also had to battle the wind which was exactly contrary and a little stiff for fighting it.We caught ( I think ) all 9 of the fish on either flukes or senkos.

We tried worms, spinnerbaits, jigs, and crankbaits with little action. We lost several fish to laydowns , misses etc.The fish were NOT after anything moving.

. The big fish ( pictured ) was 5.7. Second best was 3.3. , both caught on the watermelon seed zoom super fuke.

Well . . . . poo on you with your "consistently warm for three weeks" comment.  I know when someone is rubbing it in.  

 

Sounds like a fun excursion!  A trip with a bass over 5 lbs is a successful trip where I live.

Yeah, Its been like April here lately.Now, after saying that it's cool/ windy today.

That fish had a 7 pound frame. She was a little on the lean side at 23 inch.

It was good to meet up with @N Florida Mike for fishing. I definitely got pushed out of my normal fishing element. Gone were the open to light pine covered banks for lots of docks and overhanging oaks. The fish were also very particular, wanting a strict watermelon deadsticked. Watermelon aren't a big producer for me around the Orlando area, where I seem to do better with green pumpkins, junebug, and blacks with blues. Yep, they wanted none of my typical central Florida colors. Funny thing was the lake we fished was more on the dirty side than clear, which left me scratching my head why they keyed only on watermelon. Yet, once again these Florida bass show they set the rules. 

 

The fish from the photo was a great fighter. She bullied like an 8-9 pounder, and was surprised to see she was a little smaller when Mike got her in the boat. 

 

It was a great time, and I'm thankful for the community of good people like Mike that make up with forum.
