While getting ready for spring and organizing and cleaning tackle I noticed the the skirts on a lot of my jigs and frogs were tacky and stuck together. Soaking them in soapy water to see if I can salvage them.  Anyone have suggestions to clean them up and how to avoid this in the future?

I've found that certain manufacturers tend to have plastics that conflict with each other. I mainly use spro, kvd , and booyah. I cannot remember which frog had the reaction but the skirts were toast. The plus side is you can easily replace the skirts and there are many videos on youtube showing you how to do it. In the future I would keep each brand in its own spot.

Rub a small amount of baby powder on them and they will last longer. It will wash off in a cast or two.

Don't mix any plastics from different manufacturers.  I spray a light coating of WD40 in all of my frog boxes/Jig boxes/Spinnerbait boxes and in my hook/weight boxes.  Keeps plastic skirts fresh and rust off the hooks.  I do not spray any of my Yamamoto plastics.  They are all stored together by color.

KVD Line and lure conditioner works good on them

This, baby powder does the trick when storing

I store my frogs in an old peanut butter jars (we go thru lots of peanut butter at my house) , throw in some baby powder, give it a shake, and have never had a problem.

I just had the same thing with some spro frogs. Great ideas on how to prevent it but I’m with the op, any way to fix it without buying new skirts?

As someone who makes tackle I'm familiar with this problem. A lot of guys are wanting living rubber because they have heard it has more action, and they aren't wrong. The issue is you have to store any bait with living rubber separately and it should have a light coat of unscented talc to keep it from sticking together an taking a kinked set. Silicone doesn't have this issue and I'm not sure if your baits having the issues are living rubber or not but if there is rubber and it has stuck together and kinked, well I'm sorry to tell you it is junk and the skirt will need to be replaced. If it is silicone it shouldn't be stuck together unless it was near something that caused a reaction but I haven't come across anything that makes silicone melt other than a flame.

^^^this^^^

some brands of scent can cause problems with jig skirts if not washed with warm water and let dry before putting away.
