Sifuedition Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I'm sick. Three hours of nothing. Decide to try ONE LAST BAIT. Throw on a lipless crankbait even though the water temp seemed too low for it. Third cast and I've got a 3-4 lber on. Get him half way in and suddenly I'm dodging hooks. Not sure how he threw it, because I kept decent pressure on him. That turned my "last cast" into another 1 1/2 hours beating the bank, but nothing else decided it was hungry. THIS CLOSE to avoiding the skunk, with a decent fish, and he was just a little better than me. I'm still fuming 5 hours later. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 25, 2018 Super User Posted February 25, 2018 Looks like you are normal. I still have dreams about the ones that got away. I can see them clearly. One jumped and threw the Chatterbait; a second gave me my KVD Squarebill back and; a third threw my yellow with blue back Bandit next to the boat. Of course, there was the one that hit my Sexy Shad crankbait on Lake Gaston and as far as I know, he is still hauling his butt to Chicago. Still can't figure out how this occurred as my line was tight with good hooksets. Hey, its fishing. Sometimes you win. And sometimes the fish win. 2 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 25, 2018 Super User Posted February 25, 2018 I’ll be looking through my fishing logs and think that’s the trip where that bass got off. Then I’ll spend another two hours trying to figure out how that bass came unhooked. Quote

Good reply Sam, we've all had our share of losing nice fish and that sickening feeling in our stomach. But on the flipside, if we were guaranteed to catch EVERY SINGLE fish that bit it would be fun for awhile but eventually the thrill would be gone and we'd start playing golf instead...... 1 1 Quote
