Nothing wrong with putting a Metanium on an Ugly Stik. That is their preference and their money, they can spend it on whatever they want! 4 2 Quote

The shipping process of such a fragile item worries me. The potential for theft is high as rods don’t exactly fit in your mail box. That is what has kept me from ordering one of the Perigee II or any of the Kastking rods before. Well we planned our summer vacation and I will be able to fish some places I have always wanted to. I need some travel rods so I bit the bullet and ordered both spinning and casting Perigee II Rods. They are the two piece kind and I like that they come with 2 tips each, a med action and a med/hvy action. I also like that those tips have a lifetime warranty, the handle section has a 1 year warranty. The pieces have a spigot connection which says it gives the rod a one piece feel when connected. Being an Kastking inner circle member I got a 20% off deal on both so in total I paid $90 I will let everyone know my take on them when I receive them. I have high hopes as Kastking always surprises me as their quality is usually better than their price implies. Quote

The rods were sent in a cardboard tube, foam inserts in both ends to protect the tip and butt of the rods, sealed with a plastic cap on either end (spinning rod tube was only capped on one end). The tubes were inside a rectangular cardboard box with crumpled paper on both ends to prevent the tube from shifting about. Upon opening, the rods were safe and undamaged. The handles are EVA foam split grip. The twin tips are labeled with the rod number and action (M or MH) so you won't confuse the tips with any other Perigee II rods you have laying around. They have an arrow printed on the handle and the tip so all you have to do is line them up and connect them. It is a spigot connection so the two pieces don't have to be jammed together. The rod is all black with some carbon fiber accents near the base, very sharp. Connected the rod feels solid. I think the claim that it feels close to a one piece is accurate. I can feel the difference between the medium and medium heavy in both the spinning and casting rod tips. The Fuji guides are nice as well. Overall first impression is great. For $60 regular price on Amazon I would say if this rod were sold in a brick and mortar it would run $100-$120 as it reminds me of a rod from a company that shall remain nameless named after a movie about a kid named Damien. 3 Quote

I used the casting version primarily and my son used the spinning. It was nice to have the option of the 2 tips on vacation as I used the MH to punch some of the overgrown areas I fished. I switched back to medium for T-rigs and smaller crankbaits. I am very happy with this rod and find myself using it even when I don't need a 2 piece rod. It looks great paired with my Lew's Tournament MB baitcaster 5 Quote

When I connect either tip, the butt end does not does not go all the way into the tip. There is about a 1/2 inch gap. Do I have to push harder to join them? I am worried they won't come apart if I force it. Quote

BTW both rods are still going strong and I will be taking them to Florida next month on vacation. 1 Quote
