I went to Cabelas the other day to buy a Heritage boat but was told it would be Aug. before it would come in. So I bought a pro 170 with 40hp off the floor, just looking for somebody that has one. I have a couple questions for you. Do you like the boat ? How does it hold up? Anything I should know about it before I take it out? I had a 19ft. glass boat with a 125 on it mid 80s-90s so I know a bit about boats and ramps. Not a lot of info on this boat I did a search here and found a little but not much on this boat. Thank you in advance

I will be getting my heritage boat next week... Honestly, if I would have ordered any later than early Jan, I would have been tempted to buy a different boat.  The 170's hull is all that is shared with the heritage.  They 170 has a much larger gas tank.  The tank is not a portable tank, but a nice one connected to the boat frame.  Has a larger livewell and rod locker.  You also have more deck and more storage.  The seat is bench setting where as we have the seating like one of the pro team boats.

Come join us on the heritage boat forum.  When I get mine, I will be modifying it.

I recently purchased a 2014 170 with the 50 Hp Mercury 4 Stroke. So far I love the boat. I recently took it out for the first time and it is really a good handling boat. I was getting right at 40 m.p.h. up and down the lake and it handled waves really well. Yesterday I installed my Garmin Striker 7sv up front near the trolling motor. I plan on changing the stock FF in the near future. I have a Raymarine Wi-fish that I may install and then use my phone at the console for the screen. I am thinking of going with the Raymarine due to it having a high speed transducer and already having it sitting in my Garage. I will use a Rammount to hold the phone.

I have had mine out 6 times now and it does everything I need it to do. I am very happy with the way it rides and fishes plenty of room for everything I need.

I have a 2006 Pro Team 170. It's the same hull/specs as yours but they have changed the layout of the 170's a few years ago.

Mine has a center rod locker It will hold 7'6" rods comfortably and I have had 7'11" rods in there before with out too much trouble. I can hold 10-12 rods without it being a total disaster. Tackle storage is not great. I have the big compartment in front of the console and under the seats, as I used the compartment on the port side for my TM batterys and charger when I switched to 24v as there wasn't much room in the rear for an extra battery to fit with out swearing and bleeding. It also has a rear livewell, and the newer ones are in the front.

The boat has held up fine, any thing wrong with it is  because of my idiocy and abuse. I fish well over 100 times a season with this boat and have since I first bought it new 12 years ago. The carpet is still in good shape, and I plan on keeping this boat for a long time. The trailer has given me zero trouble, I keep the bearings greased, and I have changed the bunk board carpet a couple times, and the bow roller once.

The upgrades/modifications I have done to it are:

Replace 12v Trolling motor with a 24v system.

Added bow electronics, and took off the basic graph on the console it came with and upgraded it to a color unit with GPS.

Removed the center seat, and turned it into a step for the back deck, I also took the windshield off so I could get under some super low bridges, and found I liked it better off, and have never replaced it...in fact, I am not sure I still have it.

Added LED lights to the trailer.

Upgrades I plan on in the near future:

Power pole micro anchor, my buddy has one on a 175 and it works excellent.

Another graph upgrade, I want a pair Garmin Striker 7SV's for both the bow and console.

An 80lb 24v Minn Kota Ultrex

And finally I will re-power it sooner or later. It came with a 4 stroke 25 HP merc, and when I am alone, it goes good enough at 19-21 MPH on the GPS with 1/2 tank of fuel, and all my gear. Add water to the livewell and I am down to 15-17 MPH, add a second person with their gear, and it's the slow boat to China. My buddy has a  60 HP four stroke Merc on his 175 and it goes 32 MPH with both of us and our gear in it, that's too fast for me in a tin boat, as the ride is ROUGH in any wind/waves. I will put a 40HP on mine, and call it good. I am not a speed freak, and I like going slow, I just want to be able to move with two people a little quicker.

You can go 40 in that 170?  Jeez, that's movin' for a boat that size

For the people that have posted on this thread and have one, what do you have for battery storage capacity? I was told you can only for 2 batteries. For ww2farmer. Where did you put extrabattery for new trolling motor. That was one thing I struggle with, the need for 3 batteries and the room to store them

thanks

My dad has a new Pro 170. He stuck a battery in the compartment right in front of the other batteries and drilled a hole through. ?

Anyone have a tip on how to get a tracker pro 170 with a 4stroke merc50, the highest top speed. I have a 15 pitch prop I get 33 mph with gear and four people. I want to get almost 40. Any tips??

I doubt you’ll be able to get 40 with a 50hp. My max speed with GPS is 33 with a 60hp on my pt175.

I can squeak out 34 with my 60hp on my PT175 by myself but loaded with gear so I'm right there with you in your thoughts lol. Youd be into a lot more than prop changes if you are really trying to hit 40, but kiss your gas goodbye. My 60hp sips gas if I keep it just under max but can get quite thirsty if I'm running it WOT. Its like gas flood gates open.

Forget about it.  The prop rabbit hole isn't worth going down for a few extra mph.
