You guys prefer plain buzz bait or add a trailer?

it's personal preference and what you have confidence in. I personally don't add a trailer, I always had a trailer hook though. my buddy throws a white zoom horny toad on a black buzzbait and swears by it.

1. Spook, Spook Jr with the rattle

2. Topwater frog (Booyah Pad Crasher and Popping Pad Crasher)

3. Pop R

4. Chug Bug

5. Torpedo (caught 50 bass on it once)

6. Buzzbait

Honorary mentions: Rats, toads, Hula Popper & Jitterbug. And I have two Whopper Ploppers I haven't gotten a chance to use yet.

I know that's not one, but I love topwaters so much I'd take fewer fish on topwater rather than more on other baits.

I know what you mean. 1 bass exploding on a topwater makes my day.

Homemade buzzbait.  I know a guy that makes them and sells them to me real cheap.  Idk what it is but whether its at Guntersville where I go once or twice a year or on the rivers down here on the Gulf Coast where I live, it out fishes my Whopper Ploppers or any store bought buzzbait I buy.

I am the same way man.  for some reason I catch more without a trailer and I concur with the trailer hook.  Just fished a tournament this past weekend and got third primarily with a buzzbait. Probably half of them were hooked with the trailer hook only.  Its a must for me unless Im fishing across heavy cover.  Then unfortunately I just deal with the misses

Heddon Super Spook Jr. Once you learn how to walk the dog you feel a real sense of accomplishment.

Close second would be the Whopper Plopper for fish catching numbers and versatility.

How does that happen? When I get a new lure it's always the first thing out of my bag the next time I go fishing. For me it's like being a kid on Christmas morning!

For we poor saps living in Minnesota, we buy our lures in the frozen tundra time of year and just drool over them until the middle of May when we can fish again.   Taking 6 months off during the winter is horrible.   Count your blessings in South Carolina!!   I am jealous!!

Yeah...  Hard for one to be the first when there are 30 that have never seen water.   I have a rod and reel that have never been used, and yesterday when I was out looking around, the water was still mostly too hard to fish.  The great weather in the next few days may change that.

I know the feeling. I have my 2 best rods I bought last fall and only took out once and haven’t caught a fish on them yet. And probably 15 new lures just waiting till may to try them out.

Well then, that makes perfect sense. Then again, the few times I went out this winter the fishing was so slow here the lagoons may as well have been frozen over. :P

For many, many years it was a Cavitron buzzbait. But the Jackall Pompadour has moved into my number one spot. Honorable mention to the Sammy and the Pop-Max.

Hace you ever used a Whopper Plopper?

Yes, and I prefer the Pompadour.

When it gets dark outside nothing beats the gurgling of a big black Jitterbug! When the sun is out I throw Super Spooks or Pop R's. All time favorite is a Jitterbug though.
