FloridaBass Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Anyone fish Lake Lure before? It’s in west North Carolina, and I am going to be in a house on the lake for all of spring break with the family. I would love to catch largemouth obviously but a smallmouth would be the true target. Any tips? Unfortunately restricted to bank fishing, so try to keep that in mind. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted February 24, 2018 Super User Posted February 24, 2018 The only time I fished there I hooked a giant carp that broke the line right at the bank , as my dad watched .It bit a bread ball. It is one of the most scenic of any lakes I've ever fished. You will enjoy it. Quote
Lasher Posted February 25, 2018 Posted February 25, 2018 I live 30 minutes away in Asheville and have fished it several time. This lake is a tourist destination, and not known as much for fishing but bass, carp, and brim can be caught in the right conditions. If your on the bank, it's going to be tough to access as the mountains slope right off into the water. It's not easy to walk around and cast in most places, hopefully you have access to a dock. Throw a shakey head black worm or small crank bait around any timber or blown down trees you can find. Also please tell everyone in Florida to stop buying property and moving to western north carolina. Quote
