The Next KVD Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I only run Minn Kota trolling motors on my boat but no trolling motor is completely weedless. However if ur talking about weeds wrapping around the prop then the answer is yes, I have yet to unwrap weeds from around my prop. The only place i have to get weeds off is the trolling motor shaft. I think wat makes them weedless from the older style props is the bent blade tips and how they fit on the trolling motor. thats the only explanation i can think of. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 11, 2007 Author Super User Posted August 11, 2007 ok thats cool that they really work. my motor now really bogs down w/ weeds and gets all tangled up around the prop. i dont think that weeds on the shaft would realy be a problem. i didnt really see any difference in that prop and the one thats on mine now, except the new one was sharper and maybe a bit more curved, but not much. Travlin_Man Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Save your $ for a little longer and get a Kipawa prop, just as weedless, more speed and farther on a battery charge. Quote
Garnet Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I have both the old style prop on a 74 Min Kota and the bent prop on a 101. I don't think the bent deal is very good. I've had my 101 solid. Some local guys are working on modifiying the old style prop for the new style. Garnet Quote

Could be the power of your motor, if the thrust is real low you wont have the power to run through those heavy weeds. Granted I live north of where the weeds and vegetation become a real problem but I havent had a time yet where I had to stop and clean off my 74lb thrust minn kota prop, yes sure I need to clean off the trolling motor shaft every so often but never the prop.
