hotspringsbass Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 I just purchased a 92' Nitro 180FS boat with a Motor guide 12/24 volt trolling motor. My question is about the trolling motor wiring. Coming from the trolling motor are 4 wires 2 red and 2 black. How do I wire these to the battery/s to get 12/24 performance. I have little to no history in this matter. Please help I need to go fishing. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 13, 2007 Super User Posted August 13, 2007 It seems to me like you have 1 more wire than you need but I am not sure of your switch configuration. For the 12v part you will need 1 r and 1 b to go to your #1 battery. Then you need a b wire to the - post of the #2 battery. In order to make the 24v you need a jumper from - battery #1 to + battery #2. Your extra wire must be so that the switch can run them in = and use both batteries for 12v. Quote
hotspringsbass Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 Jig Man, Thanks for the information. Like I said I have very little history dealing with this and I appreciate your help. I understand what you said about the jumper wire but what should I do with the other Red wire? On the jumper wire, Should I just make something up out of similar sized wire to use for this? Your help is greatly appreciated. Quote
