DaveHaze Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Hi, just moved near the Paulo Gaucho bayou area on Toledo Bend and I am not familiar with that area and was hoping if anyone could clue me in on some areas for crappie and bass. I have been launching at Harborlight marina and have caught a few bass in the back of the bayou and seen some crappie getting active but no luck on them yet as the water is a bit muddy. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 21, 2018 Super User Posted February 21, 2018 How y'all are? There's a 274 pg thread "So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?", I'm pretty sure we covered Polo Gaucho. I know 274 pgs is intimidating especially since your anxious to get started. Goto Google, type on Polo Gaucho bassresource & hit enter. Glad you're here & looking forward to reports! Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 21, 2018 Super User Posted February 21, 2018 Welcome aboard, Dave! The right guy @Catt, is on the thread, so you'll get some great Cajun advice! 1 Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Paulo Gaucho is a really good creek. This time of year, it may be worth the idle to go all the way to the back. There are a lot of cypress tress and stumps back there that fish spawn on. It's a long idle, but can be worth it. Spinnerbait, chatterbait, and a jig is all you need. 1 Quote
TbendAngler Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Palo Gaucho is an excellent place to fish! You may check out some of the coves closer to the mouth of the creek, the water is usually a lot cleaner. Hines creek is also a good location to check out this time of year. Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 22, 2018 Super User Posted February 22, 2018 I'm with @Bass_Fanatic I would be heading out back! Back of Polo Gaucho, pipeline in the back of Housen', 6-Mile west of the bridge, the extreme back of everywhere! Ya got a lot of weekend warriors on the lake right now & they don't want to work for em! Quote
DaveHaze Posted February 22, 2018 Author Posted February 22, 2018 I appreciate the advice and tips guys, will be trying them out next time on the water if the rains ever let up. Good thing is that the lake level should be coming up! 1 Quote
Corkpuller Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 First thing ya need to know is how to pronounce "Polly Gowch". That creek will muddy up big time with any amount of rain, but, I wouldn't let that run you outta there. It's also one of the better creeks to get out the wind the way it lays out. 1 Quote

Polo Gaucho is a lot like 6-Mile! Stay off colored & is pretty much protected from winds! Quote
