Hello everyone, Took me awhile to figure out the domain name .

Well just to try and keep it simple here is my question. I have a Shimano Citica CI201I on a St Croix pistol grip 5foot-6inch med power fast action rod and a Lewsspeedspool ssg1hl on a telloscopic 7ft 6 bionic blade, which reel is the better and should I swap them around ?

Welcome aboard!

What are you trying to accomplish with each setup?

Best casting Distance

That’s achieved with the rod. Longer rod, more distance. More weight, more distance. The reel plays a small part. The higher end of your lure rating will cast best.

I’d choose whichever feels best to you.

your opinion  what reel is better? I also have a St Croix avidx med power 7 foot fast action that needs a baitcaster  reel  for small spinners and top water, basically all around. Mind I'm shooting for distance. I here the lighter the spool the better

Well then that leaves me with a telloscopic 7ft 6 bionic blade med heavy fast action with out a reel.

I really thank you all for all of  the replies.

It's common for folks new to baitcasters to focus on distance.  But in order to gain distance, one has to focus on fundamentals.

It's like when you're first throwing a football.  You won't be able to throw a perfect spiral 70 yards downfield unless you have the fundamentals down pat.

To that end, here's your path to casting long distances:

Thank you all

One more thing I need to know what reel should go on the right rod please help match this up and tell me how you would fish them '

Reels

1- Curado cu71 hg 7.2:1

2-curado 201k 6.3:1

3-citica201 6.3:1

Rods

1-EX6 852C JWR Med x fast 7-1

2-Stcroix PC56MF

3-AVIDX AXC70MF

Also have a Lewsspeedspool ssg1hl

thinking about using the EX6 852C JWR Med x fast 7-1 for light weight such as ned rigs and worms
