Strike King XD Series?

I am not a big crank guy but. I am trying to force myself to become one and now that I live on Table Rock I need to do this!  So is the XD the betrr of the Strike King line up or should I look into the Dredger?

You’re talking about one of the most PROVEN fish catching series. Every pro has them in the box. The XD Series is probably the only deep crank you need.

Dredger will out dive them .  I prefer the Dredger .

On Table Rock you will want to look into a Storm Wiggle Wart, SPRO Rockcrawler, or 6th Sense Curve 55 as a primary crankbait to throw.

I have a ton of warts, and rockcrawlers, but I want some that will run deeper !

Looks like I need some 6 XD’s and some 5’s& 3 ‘s and some Dredgers ! Darn I knew this would get costly! She is gonig to kill me again!

The XD series has a more aggressive wobble than the Dredger, though the Dredger will dive a bit deeper and cast a bit further for it's size. Sorry to say, but you gotta have both baits. They both catch the heck of them for me.

The SK 5 series in Gizzard shad is the best crankbait I own that dives past 10'.

From what I hear the newer wiggle warts aren’t as good as the oldies. You can still find some for around $60+ a piece! For where you are I like the Strike King series 3 XD in any of the craw patterns.

I'm on the XD bandwagon.  You can get them to dive deeper by going lighter with your line if you can swing it.

It is true that the old ones are better for sure! The rattles are different and the total action is also! I have about 10 or 15 old ones. The new ones still catch fish but if you find a old one yhat runs good , total different action! I am going to get some of the X D! I did hear that the XD hang up less than the Dredger’s?

True . The Dredger is tighter and less tiring . Size wise the 6XD is comparable to the 25.5 but the Dredger out-dives it by about 5 foot . Looking for a true 20 to 23 foot crankbait the  Dredger will reach and stay there without resorting to tricks .

Cast distance is hugely important in getting any crankbaits to its deepest.

 

 

I built a 6 power 7'6" last year and my Dt10's are hitting 12-13'.

 

I'm now going to build a 7'8" 8 power for 8 and 10 xds.....

The 5XD in green gizzard shad is my favorite deep crank other than a wart. The 3XD in green tomato has kind of a cult following on Table Rock and I can attest to it's effectiveness there.

As you probably know Table Rock isn't exactly known for a deep crankbait bite. It's more of a squarebill ,Wart, Rk Crawler deal.

 If your looking to try it , the end of May/early June time frame seems to be about the best.

 And then I would be looking up the rivers.

 The 5 and 6 XD, will work along with the DD22 and Deep little N, in the Normans I like the lavender shad color. Among the guys that are really good at it the Fat Free shad has always been popular.. The citrus shad color is a good starting point.

 If you have some that you'd like painted get in touch with Tim Hughes. When it comes to crankbait colors on Table Rock he is one of, if not the best.
