I have been to Angler's Inn in El Salto and it was the one of the most memorable events in my life. I have a chance to go back to Mexico with my son for another trip this year. I can go back to El Salto or the sister lake, Lake Picachos. I was hoping to hear some feedback from someone who has been to both.

i went to Picachos about 3 years ago, and it was great in numbers, not so much in size. But i heard this year it has been producing both...

I also went to El Salto last year, but it was my first time down there, without a guide. I towed my boat all the way from Chihuahua. It was a great trip, again, great numbers, but biggest one on our party (we were 3 boats from Chihuahua) was about 6 pounds.... but everybody catched 3-4 pound fish all day, every day...

I can't tell you about Picachos in May, but I did go to both El Salto and Picachos in late January this year.  We went through Ron Speed Adventures.  We had a great time.  Size at El Salto was bigger on average but we caught way, way more fish on Picachos.  It was also a "nicer" lake, if that makes any sense, and there were far less tilapia nets getting in the way.  The run-of-the-mill bass we caught on both was in the 1.5-2.5 range.  As you may recall, though, they all fight like smallmouth, which is nice.  We caught bigger fish on El Salto--numerous 3+, a few 4+ and one 6+, though no real giants.  The biggest fish we got on Picachos was probably 3.5.  Let's just put it this way:  we never once thought "hey, we should weigh that one" on Picachos.  But, the sheer number of bites on Picachos was mind boggling.  Our second day there, we caught 131 fish.  To me, that's a good month...
