Super User A-Jay Posted February 19, 2018 Super User Posted February 19, 2018 I have quite a bit of success with the 110, 110 +1 as well as their topwater baits. YMMV A-Jay 5 Quote

Nothing is magic, but they are extremely well made products and I don't mind paying a little more for that. 'Worth it' is up to the individual...But if the question is "Does the quality/value match the price tag?"..IMO the answer is definitely yes. This video is pretty cool in showing how their baits are still hand assembled, QC'd, painted, etc...I have no connection to MB, just a guy that likes their stuff. Really enjoyed this video - Thank you. A-Jay 2 Quote

68camaro Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I really REALLY like the 110 SP Magnum, Pop-X, X-Pod, Pop Max and Giant Dog. I only have 6 or 7 but I have lots of confidence in them, the top waters are killers. Quote

The math is pretty simple on that one. To answer the OP, maybe, but I haven't ponied up for one yet. With giant musky in the waters I fish that have bit off or hit other jerkbaits, a 110 is not in my future. It is really difficult to spend a lot of cash on a lure that can't be fished on a leader. Funny thing is J Francho had me convinced I was getting a Popmax on my Christmas order and I am pretty sure another mod was the one that said go with the River 2 Sea bubble pop which was 10 bucks cheaper and a similar bait. Will see how the R2S bait works out this summer. 1 Quote

I fish a lot for smallmouth is deep clear lakes - if you're doing something similar - the 110 & 110 +1 in the GG Perch OB flavor has been very good. Also the Megabass YUKI ITO POP MAX "Wagin Hasu" as been Killer. Finally, No the red trebles are not stock - But are a highly effective 'up grade'. A-Jay 1 Quote

Nice video! Depending on the bait & the stock hardware it comes with - the Mustad treble replacement is a better hook. As for the red - don't know if it really makes that big a difference or not. I started doing it on crankbaits, jerkaits & topwaters a long time ago - sort of a confidence thing I guess. But it does seem to be somewhat effective when it comes to big smallies & topwater baits. If it were me, I would rather have a clear and a muddy water color of the lucky craft pointer than 1 megabass vision. Of the megabass, lucky craft, rapala, and SK jerkbaits I own, I couldn't point out one brand that has caught more than the other. Honestly, the rapala shadow probably gets the most action Quote

I won’t be buying multiple colors of anything, let alone a $20 lure. You don't need a bunch of colors. Heck, my two most use MB baits have most of the paint worn off them from fish. 1 Quote

They are now a staple in my Hard Jerkbait Box. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted February 20, 2018 Super User Posted February 20, 2018 The only MB hardbaits that I own are the PopX and PopMax. The X is the only tiny popper I have found that I can get to pop reliably and the Max is great as its a perfect "goldilocks" weight so I can throw it on more or less whatever rod I have with me at the time. A Max and a WP90 are always in my tackle bag for most of the year. I would love to try a Vision 110, but I have no intrest in triple treble lures and I don't feel like messing with trying to blalance it if I removed the middle one. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 20, 2018 Super User Posted February 20, 2018 I love the Visions. But, if I felt the need to stick to a budget some day, I could probably make do with $17 Pointers. 1 Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted February 20, 2018 Super User Posted February 20, 2018 If I were a collector ONLY and a bait caught my eye, I'd purchase it HOWEVER if the price of a bait is going to keep me from using it (and that is my desire) or working it near a potential snag, it wouldn't matter what the bait or the company, no I couldn't bring myself to purchase it. I still remember some of the mid-range crankbaits I've lost on the FIRST cast so that says a little bit about where I'm coming from. Nobody said I wasn't a little weird. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 20, 2018 Super User Posted February 20, 2018 @Ratherbfishing, it maybe be slightly easier to comprehend when you consider that the lures mentioned most in this thread, a popper and a jerk, are generally less likely to hang than most others. (Doesn't mean I can't put one in a tree....the dry kind...lost a nice LC a few weeks ago about 20 feet over my head.) 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted February 20, 2018 Super User Posted February 20, 2018 I don't mind expensive poppers as, unless I get too cocky casting close to cover, I almost never loose them. Except for the one I lost this fall, a pick grabbed it, ran into some brush, managed to pop himself off AND snag the popper on said brush. That was kinda annoying. 1 Quote
LonnieP Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I find the vision 110s to be worth the money. My jerkbait catch has went up ever since I switched from SK. 1 Quote

Not so much anymore but it still happens. 2 Quote
BassNJake Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I love the vision 110's. I followed an FLW event probably like 2010 or 2011 and 9 of the top 10 finishers were all throwing the vision 110. I bought some to see if they were as good as these pros said. They are definitely worth the money in my opinion and a heartbreaker every time one is lost. Quote from an FLW page- "In terms of top lures for 2011, three in particular stand out. First is the MegaBass Vision 110 suspending jerkbait, which dominated the Beaver Lake Tour event. Nine of the top 10 finishers, including winner Bryan Thrift, were using the Vision 110." 1 Quote
FishDewd Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 I won't spend more than about $7 on a lure cause I will lose it, guaranteed. Too pricey to keep replacing. I don't catch anything on hard lures anyway lol. 1 Quote
