Justbass11 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Ok finally got out on the water and did some fishing. I wanted to check how things were and when I got to the livewell it would not fill up but did let out the water that was in there. Any ideas what might be happening with the livewell??? Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted February 18, 2018 Super User Posted February 18, 2018 Do you need to physically plug that livewell? Do you have drain valves somewhere, sometimes those valves can be moved but the cables fail to move the flapper to block the flow of water. What kind of boat do you have. Some more info may be helpful. 1 Quote
Justbass11 Posted February 18, 2018 Author Posted February 18, 2018 Thanks fishnkamp for your reply, I have a 2003 Triton TR185, I just had it recarpeted and lights put in my compartments for when I go night fishing. No I don’t need to physically plug the livewell. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 18, 2018 Super User Posted February 18, 2018 Did they move the hoses? If the hose runs above the waterline, before it gets to the pump it may not prime the pump. 1 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted February 18, 2018 Super User Posted February 18, 2018 Yea I had been thinking of these type livewell controls. These pull on a cable and open and close a valve. Sometimes there are two. One will say drain and allow water to drain out or fill the livewell. The other may be recirc or fresh, meaning that pump pulls water from either the inside of the livewell or from outside the boat. That kit might look like this. Quote
Super User MickD Posted February 18, 2018 Super User Posted February 18, 2018 Can you hear the pump running? My Lund livewell has a valve where the water enters the livewell, and if that valve is not open, the pump will run but the water cannot enter the livewell. 1 Quote
Justbass11 Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Update: After a few minutes of a intense investigation of my livewell it came down to this....it won’t turn on. I know right, go figure. I turn it on and nothing, I now know that I have 2 pumps for the livewell one for pumping in water and one for pumping out water. Thanks for all the replies up to now. Could it be a fuse? All input is welcome....? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 20, 2018 Super User Posted February 20, 2018 The right way to do this is to use a multimeter to verify you have 12v at the pump. If you do, the pump is bad. If you don't, the issue is somewhere else in the circuit. And yes, there should be a fuse somewhere in the circuit. 1 Quote
Justbass11 Posted June 28, 2018 Author Posted June 28, 2018 Just a update....I put in a new fuse and what do you think happened????? Yep it works just fine now. Thanks for all the replies Quote
