I feel mine come through cover much better than the very thin stuff Gammy puts on, with no less hookups. And yeah, our reservoirs do get the green snot so bad during certain times of the year. There's also the black crud of death that knots up on your lures in certain areas...TX, jigs, etc. Hi Darren, Can you put up a pic of the weed guard you are tying? Thank you. Quote

Let me see if I can find an earlier post in which I detailed the stuff used. I also posted several videos (not by me) which show how to tie. Though my ties are my own mods. Quote

Big_Easy_Bassin Posted February 20, 2018 Author Posted February 20, 2018 Did not mean to open up this can of worms with my question lol. Needless to say, after another few days of fishing while I’m off work, I’ve tried both the octopus circle hooks and the split/drop shot hooks from Gamakatsu with the wacky rig. The split/drop shot is a much better choice for the spawning bass. That’s just my opinion after using both. Lost quite a few fish on the circle hooks. Seemed like it wasn’t penetrating quite like the split/drop shot hook. Again... just my opinion, and thanks to everyone who gave me advice. Quote
lunkerboss923 Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Would weighted Swimbait hooks work? There is absolutely nothing at the big sporting goods store down the road. Yesterday, I pulled the screw in out of one of my jig heads and it worked pretty well. Can anybody recommend a decent hook that is weighted? What about an octopus hook and a split shot? I don’t like the slow action, I much prefer the Texas Rig? Quote
